The Future of Work is Diverse, Inclusive, Just and Equitable

GlobalMindED closes the equity gap by creating a capable, diverse talent pipeline through connections to role models, mentors, internships for low-income students, returning adults, First Gen to college and inclusive leaders who teach them, work with them and hire them.
Meet Three Female Veteran Heroes Who Have Transformed The World of Service

November celebrates both indigenous peoples through Native American Heritage Month and National Veterans and Military Families Month. GlobalMindED is proud to feature leaders from both groups this month.

Today meet Lt. Tammy Duckworth, Lt. Ashely White, and Sgt. Silverine James. These three women have dedicated their lives to serving the United States demonstrating selfless, dedicated commitment to defending our nation.

GlobalMindED thanks all the men and women who have served our country as well as all active duty members who continue to courageously fight for our democracy every minute of every day. We appreciate you tremendously, and you are our heroes.
Lieutenant Colonel Tammy Duckworth
In November of 2004, while serving in Iraq, Lieutenant Colonel Tammy Duckworth's helicopter was shot down, leading to the loss of both her legs. She became the first American double amputee from the Iraq War. Following her military career, Duckworth worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and later made history as the first female veteran to serve in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. Her journey exemplifies resilience and a continued commitment to public service..

Lieutenant Ashley White
Lieutenant Ashley White Stumpf was a Cultural Support Team (CST) member in the United States Army. She served alongside special operations forces, working to bridge the gap between male soldiers and the local Afghan female population. Tragically, Lt. White Stumpf lost her life in Afghanistan in 2011 during a joint special operations mission.

Her contributions were significant in demonstrating the importance of integrating female soldiers into roles that allowed for more effective engagement with local populations in culturally sensitive environments. Lt. Ashley White Stumpf's story has been recognized and remembered for her dedication to her mission and the trail she blazed for women in the military.

SGT. Silverine Vineyard James
Sargent Silverine Vineyard James played a big role in the integration of black women into the army. Sgt. James found herself being the first black girl in many spaces as she served. During the naming ceremony, Congressman Ben Cline (Virginia 6) acknowledged James' legacy as a civil rights pioneer, emphasizing her role in the movement toward integration during an era of racial segregation. Dr. Miguel LaPuz, Assistant Undersecretary for Health for Integrated Veteran Care at the Veterans Health Administration, also spoke. Letters from Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine were read, extending congratulations on James' extensive service to the nation.
