Installation of New Traffic Flow Technology Begins January 2

Beginning on January 2, new traffic cameras, traffic control cabinets and network hub cabinets will be installed along major high-traffic streets in San Gabriel. The installation will allow a centralized computer system to continuously monitor traffic to reduce travel times and ease congestion across key corridors such as Valley Boulevard, San Gabriel Boulevard, Del Mar Avenue, Las Tunas Drive and Mission Road. Work is estimated to be completed by the end of February.

Following this project, a significant portion of Valley Boulevard is planned to be paved in Spring 2024.

Valley Blvd Reduced to One Lane from January to February

Valley Boulevard will be reduced to one westbound lane for one or two blocks at a time in January and February 2024 between South Charlotte Avenue and New Avenue for the installation of new technology for the Adaptive Traffic Responsive Signal Control Project. The construction will involve installing new underground conduits and fiber-optic cables to synchronize and improve traffic flow.
