2021 Chateau des Charmes Cabernet Merlot


While not a new listing at the LCBO, it’s worth keeping on your radar because it’s such a marvellous wine for the money.


The scent is jammy ripe with heady scents of black cherry, raspberry coulis and chocolate.


Then the wine streams in with juicy flavours of wild blueberry and blackberry with a touch of cherry jam that enters, expands and then arcs before tapering to a cherry-currant-cocoa finish.


Dry, juicy red at a reasonable price.

Château des Charmes Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2021 


This Chardonnay, from the home vineyard, was barrel fermented with extended lees contact and aged for nine months in the same French oak barrels.

A lovely young wine, with some forest floor (mushrooms, earth) to complement the red fruit (strawberries are hinted at by the winemaker).
