MoDOT seeking input on high-priority unfunded needs

Public meetings hosted across the state in August

MoDOT has been working with statewide regional planning partners to update the department's High-Priority Unfunded Needs document, which will be available this summer.

The draft document identifies $1.1 billion in annual unfunded needs and helps guide the development of unfunded projects into funded projects as state and federal transportation funds become available. The draft document will be presented at public meetings around the state in August. These meetings will also include outreach and public engagement on the updates to MoDOT's Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and State Freight and Rail Plan (SFRP).

Information about when and where the public meetings will be held, as well as supporting documents, are available on MoDOT's website.

Highway Safety Spotlight - Smart Riders program expanding

Smart Riders launched in 2022 and consists of five online modules designed for students K-3 to learn about highway safety in a fun and interactive way. The program also includes the Smart Town initiative, which guides schools how to teach their kids about traffic laws in safe, controlled environments called traffic gardens. More modules are planned on topics like bus safety and signs and traffic signals.
