HPKCC-Transit Task Force Community Dialogue - Fair Transit South Cook Pilot - Thurs. 1/28, 7:00 pm
Reduced Rate Fares for all on the Metra Electric.
The Fair Transit South Cook Pilot (the Fair Transit Pilot) is underway. As reported in the December HPKCC Newsletter, all riders on the Metra Electric can now ride at the Reduced Fare Rate. (For example: the Reduced Rate fare is $2.00 for Hyde Park to Downtown - instead of the $4.25 full fare).
Under the Fair Transit Pilot, Metra, PACE, and Cook County have undertaken a 3-year pilot project for the Metra Electric and Rock Island commuter lines and for Pace’s Halsted 352 route. The goals of the Fair Transit Pilot are to improve transit service, increase transit use, and lower costs to residents of Chicago and South Cook and Will Counties.
