Greetings!
The nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time reminds us that God often speaks in quiet ways. Elijah searched for God in the storm and the fire, yet God came in a gentle whisper. Even when we feel tired or afraid, God meets us with calm strength and guides us forward.
Psalm 85 promises peace and salvation, where kindness, truth, justice, and peace come together in God’s faithful love.
Paul’s love for his people reveals a heart that longs for others to discover the hope found in Christ. He reminds us that God’s saving work embraces both Jews and Gentiles. Even in his sorrow, Paul holds fast to the truth that God’s promises remain faithful.
Peter walked on water when he trusted Jesus. He began to sink when fear took over, yet Jesus reached out and lifted him. Faith does not remove struggle. Faith carries us through it. Jesus calms the storms around us and within us, often through small, steady choices to remain faithful.

Parish Pilgrimage to Mount Angel Abbey
This past weekend, members of our parish embarked on a beautiful pilgrimage to Mount Angel Abbey, a day filled with faith, learning, and spiritual renewal. Pilgrims were blessed to hear two inspiring presentations, one on the rich history of the Abbey and another on its treasured relics. We were also given the rare opportunity to view several of these sacred relics up close, deepening our connection to the saints and the Church's rich heritage.
A special highlight of the day was joining the Benedictine monks in Midday Prayer, allowing us to pause, reflect, and enter more fully into the rhythm of prayer that has sustained the Abbey for generations. The pilgrimage concluded with a delightful lunch, followed by time to explore the museum and gift shop.
More than just a day trip, this pilgrimage offered a chance to step away from the busyness of daily life, encounter the beauty of God's creation, and deepen our relationship with Christ. It was a meaningful day of fellowship, reflection, and spiritual growth that left many refreshed and inspired in their faith journey.

The Hand in Hand Fund at Resurrection sent support, this past year, to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Fatima Latin Parish in
Beit Sahour, thanks to your donations. See below.
| | |
Information about the Our Lady of Fatima Latin Parish
from President, Dr. Minerva Qassis-Jaraysah.
"The St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Fatima Latin Parish in Beit Sahour was re-established in (2019) after more than ten years of inactivity, resuming its mission inspired by (St. Vincent de Paul), the "Father of the Poor," to serve the most vulnerable families in the Bethlehem Governorate, particularly in the city of Beit Sahour.
Since its re-establishment, the Society has set several key objectives, including:
* Supporting poor and vulnerable families, the elderly, and widows.
* Promoting the spirit of volunteerism among young people and school students by developing their capacities and encouraging them to participate in charitable and humanitarian service.
* Expanding a network of local donors and supporters from within the parish through financial and in-kind contributions to ensure the sustainability of the Society's mission.
Over the past years, the Society has implemented a wide range of pastoral and humanitarian activities, including:
* Organizing pastoral and recreational events for parish members, with special attention to the elderly, in cooperation with organizations serving people with disabilities.
* Conducting community initiatives and donation campaigns, most notably the (One Kilogram Campaign), in partnership with parishioners and students at the Latin Patriarchate School. Through this initiative, food donations were collected and more than (30 food parcels) were distributed to families in need within the parish.
* Carrying out regular pastoral visits to the sick and elderly to provide companionship, encouragement, and spiritual support.
* Contributing to the cost of medicines and medical treatment in cooperation with the parish priest, as many parish members do not have health insurance or social security and depend largely on Church assistance to meet their basic healthcare needs.
* Maintaining close cooperation with the parish priest, the religious sisters, and the various parish groups to fulfill the Society's mission of serving people through Christian charity and solidarity.
The difficult economic and social conditions in the Holy Land, together with rising unemployment—particularly among Christian youth whose livelihoods depend heavily on tourism, including olive wood workshops, hotels, restaurants, transportation, and related sectors—have had a devastating impact on many families. The collapse of the tourism industry has led many young people to consider emigrating in search of better opportunities, increasing the urgent need for sustainable sources of income that enable young families to remain steadfast and continue living in the land of Christ.
Despite our very limited resources, the Society remains committed to serving the Christian community of (Our Lady of Fatima Parish). The generosity of local and international benefactors continues to keep hope alive in the hearts of many parish families. We firmly believe that even the smallest gift can make a profound difference in the life of someone in need, just as the Gospel teaches us through the example of (the Widow's Mite)
Our mission extends beyond providing material assistance. We strive to restore hope, bring smiles to the faces of families, and ensure that the elderly and the sick know they are not forgotten. With God's grace, we will continue our humanitarian and pastoral mission with dedication, compassion, and faithfulness.
We kindly ask you to keep our Society and its mission in your thoughts and prayers. We also express our sincere gratitude for any moral or financial support you may offer. Your generosity directly helps relieve the suffering of those in need and strengthens hope within our parish community."

Join the Pocket Prayer Ministry
Do you have a heart for prayer and a desire to support others in a meaningful way?
We invite you to become part of Resurrection Parish's Pocket Prayer Ministry!
The Pocket Prayer Ministry is a simple yet powerful way to share God's love and encouragement. Members of the ministry create small, hand knitted prayer cards filled with scripture, blessings, and words of hope. These prayer cards are placed throughout the church and are shared with those who may be facing challenges, celebrating joys, or simply needing a reminder that God is with them.
Through this ministry, a small handmade note can make a big difference. A pocket prayer can bring comfort to someone who is grieving, strength to someone who is struggling, or peace to someone seeking God's guidance. It is a beautiful way to let others know that they are seen, loved, and being prayed for.
If you would like to join the Pocket Prayer Ministry and help brighten someone's day with a message of faith and hope, we would love to have you! Together, we can be instruments of God's grace, one prayer card at a time.
For more information or to get involved, please contact the parish office.

QCD
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who meet the age requirements old or older to donate up to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.
RMD
Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you meet the age requirements. Changes in deduction rules and limitations will impact how much you can deduct for donations.
Meeting the age requirements, you may qualify to take annual distributions from your retirement account to make tax free donations to charities of your choice.
Resurrection Church is a qualified public charity 501(c)(3) and can receive your QCD.
Contact your financial advisor for updated and relevant tax advise.
Will, Living Trust & Estate Planning
Include Resurrection Catholic Parish or School in your will, trust or estate planning. Your gift – no matter how big or small – ensures our church, school, or school endowment fund can continue all of the incredible work we do, and you will be making an impact in the lives of others for many years to come.
We are deeply grateful for your consideration in supporting
Resurrection Catholic Church and Resurrection Catholic Parish School
with your generous donations. Thank you for keeping us in your hearts.

Universal Church Appeal Collection
Beginning in 2026, the Archdiocese of Portland is introducing the Universal Church Appeal, a streamlined approach that replaces more than 15 individual national
second collections with one unified annual appeal.
Through one simple, primarily digital giving opportunity, parishioners can support multiple domestic and international Church ministries, including Catholic Relief Services, Peter’s Pence, and World Missions. Gifts are passed through in full according to each donor’s designation.
There are QR-coded cards on the welcome table.
