The annual competition, presented in partnership with John Deere Golf, consists of physical and visual identification of samples, as well as multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, essay, short answer, and matching questions on the agronomic, business, and financial management aspects of the golf course superintendent profession. Each year, the GCSAA awards a total of $10,000 in cash and prizes to the top 10 teams during a closing celebration that buzzes with pomp and circumstance.
