On Monday, October 28 a memorial service was held for Christ Church parishioner Karl Manger.

For those who were unable to attend the service the bulletin and sermon are attached below.

View the bulletin HERE.

Sermon for Karl Manger

FROM THE ORGAN LOFT

The organ music this Sunday is specially chosen for All Saints Sunday. Both the prelude and postlude are part of a larger composition called "Mass of a Medieval Saint" composed by Malcolm Williamson, the first non-Brit to hold the position of Master of the Queen's Music.

This prestigious position dates back to 1626. Just this year, a new Master of the King's Music was appointed - Ms. Errollyn Wallen, who is the first Black woman to serve in this role.

The prelude, titled "Communion", reflects the pensive, reflective side of a saint. The postlude, "Introit", evokes the imagery of a medieval procession, allowing us to imagine the solemnity and grandeur of all the saints gathered together.

The solo today is composed by a contemporary American composer Gwyneth Walker. The text is from Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore and speaks of the final voyage as fulfillment. "I bow to you, and hold up my lamp to light you on your way". The choral piece is also by a contemporary American composer.

As we gather this Sunday to honor and remember the saints, past and present, may the music lift our hearts and minds to the sacred and eternal.

Who is Eligible to run for Vestry

November 7, 2024 at 7:00 PM

Join us for an engaging webinar on November 7th, where we’ll dive into the critical topic of housing justice. We’ll explore the root causes of homelessness, discuss why Trinity’s leadership established their Code Blue Center, and share how the center operates to support those in need. Plus, we’ll provide valuable information on how you can get involved by donating or volunteering at Trinity’s Code Blue Center in Asbury Park. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and make a difference!

Presented by The Reverend Chase Danford, Rector, Trinity, Asbury Park; Derek Bloom, Director of Community Engagement and Organizing, Food and Social Justice, Trinity Asbury Park, and Jill Osis, Director of Operations, Trinity, Asbury Park.

“Trinity believes in Matthew 25 and when we started our code blue center we kept it close to our hearts.”. We hope this discussion will help to educate and inspire you and your faith based communities to look for opportunities to do the work of Gospel justice in your communities also.

Key Topics from the October 2024

Vestry Meeting

1. The Vestry is pleased to share that we are only $15,000 away from our goal for the Handilift repair, in part due to some generous donors. There is an opportunity to finish the work if you want to make a one time donation.

2. The Vestry, in discussing the financial health of our organization, reminds everyone to pledge for the 2025 Stewardship Campaign either through the Google Form link in the weekly email or the paper pledge form at the back of the church.

3. Please also continue paying your 2024 pledge to ensure the continuation of our mission and ministry.

Christ Church Consecration Watch Party has been cancelled!

Help Others “Ride in Love”!

Join four other parishioners who have already donated $43,500 for the repair/replacement of the Handi-Lift and allow all who enter Christ Church to either Walk or Ride in Love! In addition to the generous donations of these parishioners, our 50/50 Raffles and Jewelry Sale have raised an additional $3,096, bringing the grand total of funds raised for the repair to $46,596. This leaves us a little less than $13,000 to go!

If you would like to join those who will help close this funding gap and reopen Christ Church to all, independent of their physical abilities, please consider making a donation either through a check, Zelle or PayPal. Please designate your donation to “Ride in Love”.

Running To Stand Still – Migrants Search For Hope In The Promised Land seeks to put a human face on the immigration “issue” by telling heartbreaking and inspiring stories about the migrants themselves—courageous and dignified human beings whose lives stand as a powerful rebuke to a narrative that is fraught with hatred, alarmist rhetoric, and dehumanizing stereotypes.

The Christ Church Grief Support Group Corner

Our next session is Tuesday, November 19 at 6pm.

This six-session series is for adults grieving the death of a loved one. The group includes education about grief and loss and provides participants an opportunity to share their experience.

Connecting with others hand-in-hand who are also grieving a loss can help you through this difficult journey. You will be provided with a safe, supportive environment for healing.

Using discussion and storytelling, can help you understand the grieving process and your emotions, as well as give you strategies for coping with guilt, anger and loneliness on special days and holidays.

It is recommended that participants wait at least two months after a death before attending a group.

There is no cost for attending this group and it is open to the public for registration.

Allow us to connect hand-in-hand with you!

6pm-7pm: October 22; November 19; December 17; January 7 & 21.
