Fire Fest Success!

FUSEE raised over $9,000 in one night at our yearly festival fundraiser event. Proceeds are going to support FUSEE’s advocacy for safe, ethical, ecological fire management and mental health and wellness retreats for wildland firefighters (more info about those below!).

Thank you so much to all the attendees, donors, sponsors, volunteers, performers, Claim 52, and community members who came to support our 4th Annual FUSEE Fall Fire Festival Fundraiser. We had live music performances, incredible fire spinning acts, wonderful silent auction prizes, interactive art activities, and more!

We look forward to having you all join us again next Fall! Stay tuned for updates about next year and other fun upcoming events, linked below. If you were not able to attend but would like to make a donation to support this work, feel free to donate at fusee.org/donate.

Thank You for Speaking Up for Roadless Forests

More than 1 million people submitted public comments about the Trump Administration's proposed rescission of the Roadless Area Conservation Act and over 99% of those comments were in opposition to the rescission proposal.

At FUSEE, we generated the most comments in the history of our organization through our unique public comment generator. You helped provide a unique wildland firefighter's perspective on this issue. We're so grateful for the community of advocates we are a part of and are inspired by your passion and dedication to the well-being of this planet.

Now, we wait... will the administration listen to what the American people, Tribal governments, and other crucial stakeholders have to say, or will they put profit above planet yet again?

New Spotfire! Blog Post

A Window into the World of a Firefighter's First Roll

“I was definitely really nervous, you know?” Lord recalled from his first time being sent to the line. “I worked hard to get to where I was as an F2, but I was also really excited as well.” He had been eagerly waiting to put his training into action, and finally got the opportunity he was looking for when he was called in to sub for a crewmember who had been sent to a different fire...

Wellness Retreats and Mindfulness Resource

Retreats

We have 2 spots left for our upcoming retreat November 1-7 in Ashford, WA with long waitlists at our other two retreat locations. Please forward the retreat information to anyone you think may be interested in attending.

Mindfulness Offering

We know that in the world of mindfulness, there are lots of teachers and resources to choose from. This month we’d like to highlight the teachings of Tara Brach and the RAIN method for practicing compassion. Check out the free resource below:

Why I Support FUSEE

“I am always ready to beat the drum and share a good word about FUSEE. The dedicated folks who work the front lines of fire ecology are indispensable neighbors and friends who help secure the safety and good health of our human and non-human communities. In return, they deserve every bit of the same in the way of support, esteem, and well-being. For much like the forest itself and the countless relations who thrive there, our firefighters are storytellers and teachers, imparting knowledge that is ever more important during this time of climate disruption. By partaking in FUSEE’s mission, we can all reconnect with the role fire plays in consummating the circle of life in the land-based places we call our homes.”
