The 2026 Southern California Hotel Owners Conference & Trade Show, co-hosted with the California Hotel & Lodging Association, brought hoteliers together for a full day of education, networking, and industry insights. Led by Greater Los Angeles Area Regional Director GJ Zala and South Pacific Regional Director Nilesh (Neil) Bhakta, along with support from AAHOA Ambassadors, the conference featured education sessions on key industry topics and opportunities for attendees to connect with exhibitors and fellow hoteliers on the Trade Show floor. Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer joined the event as a guest speaker to share perspectives on issues impacting the region.

Tonight, May 21, at 6:30 p.m., Mahendra K. Doshi, author of Surat to San Francisco, will offer a history lesson on Indian American hotel ownership at the Tenderloin Museum in San Francisco. Following his presentation, attendees will watch The Patel Motel Story, a film inspired by Doshi's work that showcases how one undocumented man's journey from Gujarat led to a hotel empire powered by South Asian immigrants.

The India-USA Trade Facilitation Portal is a new initiative launched by the Government of India to strengthen trade between Indian exporters and U.S. companies. For AAHOA Members, the platform may offer new opportunities to explore vendor relationships, procurement partnerships, and supply chain diversification through a verified database.

On Monday, June 15, AAHOA Members and vendor partners will come together for a cause at the AAHOA Washington DC Area Charity Golf Tournament in Ashburn, VA, at Belmont Country Club. We look forward to a great day on the course, connecting with fellow attendees, and supporting local charities and the AAHOA Charitable Foundation.

Last week, the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) and the National Grocers Association (NGA) announced they joined the new Main Street Competition Coalition. The Coalition of small businesses and organizations that represent them – including AAHOA – seeks to restore competitive markets across the U.S. economy.
