Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. It is a time to digest the fun-filled events of the Thanksgiving holiday spent with family and friends, to reflect on the many things we are fortunate to have in life, and to prepare for those planned milestones that are coming in the new year. Although, sometimes, it may seem that something is "missing," that is all right. That is normal. Christmas is not about having a whole lot of money, receiving silver and gold, having a big family, or eating a fancy dinner. While those things are nice to have, they don't make Christmas
Christmas. This holiday is a good time to reflect and pay tribute to those we have lost along the way. It's a time to be thankful for the good memories life has granted us and the ones that lie ahead of us. Spread wisdom, spread joy, and spread love this holiday season. These three things are
priceless.
Some people will gather with the same group of family and friends from Thanksgiving again for Christmas, while others may spend time with different family members (in-laws or extended family from out of town). No matter what your plans are for this Christmas, remember that you are fortunate in many ways--the lessons you've learned, the wisdom you've gained, the people you have in your corner, and the fresh food in your kitchen.
As the Mississippi Farmers Market is still accepting toys for children with our Toys for Tots bin located in the lobby, feel free to donate a small toy to a child this season. Something as simple as a small $10 toy could make a child's Christmas. One thing is for certain:
No matter what a person is battling, there is someone else battling something, too. Together these two can bring each other joy, even if it's temporary. Joy is joy.
Stop by the Market this Saturday. Shop for gifts for family and friends. Purchase some fresh ingredients to "practice" on those Christmas dishes.
(You have to make a good impression on those who are visiting for the holidays, right?) Also, be sure to donate a toy. If you are unable to bring a toy, some Market vendors sell some stuffed animals that would be great for a small child this Christmas!
