This Sunday

Come join us for worship this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in English or 1:00 p.m. in Spanish, as we approach the Advent Season by reading apocalyptic scripture foretelling the return of Jesus in the end times. Our gospel reading is from Matthew 25, a parable about judgment, and never a favorite topic of preachers or worshipers. 

This week’s epistle reading if from Paul’s letter to the church in Thessalonica addressing concerns the church members had for relatives who passed prior to Jesus returning. The Thessalonians want to know if these loved ones missed out on the salvation God has prepared for the faithful through Jesus. Paul seeks to comfort them with the assurance that those who died prior to the return of Jesus will be resurrected to eternal life, and that all believers will indeed join them at the Lord’s return. In summary, while we will read a message of judgement this Sunday, we will also hear the comforting message of eternal life!

Ven a unirte a nosotros en el culto este domingo a las 11:00 h en inglés o a las 13:00 h en español, mientras nos acercamos al tiempo de Adviento con la lectura de pasajes apocalípticos que anuncian el regreso de Jesús en el fin de los tiempos. La lectura del Evangelio es de Mateo 25, una parábola sobre el juicio, un tema que nunca ha sido el favorito ni de los predicadores ni de los fieles.

La lectura epistolar de esta semana procede de la carta de Pablo a la iglesia de Tesalónica, en la que aborda las inquietudes que tenían los miembros de la iglesia respecto a sus familiares fallecidos antes del regreso de Jesús. Sunday November 29^th marks the first Sunday in Advent and the start of the church calendar.

Pastor Mike is headed to Jury Duty!

Gwinnett County is so impressed with our Pastor that they have summoned him to jury duty the week of November 16^th. Should Pastor Mike be seated as a juror, he will be unavailable much of that week. Hopefully Mike’s vocation and the fact that Deb is a lawyer will free Mike from a week of “hurry up and wait”.
