Living Audaciously: Aging, Elderhood and Mortality in the Second Half of Life
“It’s paradoxical that the idea of living a long life appeals to everyone,
but the idea of getting old doesn’t appeal to anyone.” ~Andy Rooney
Aging is an experience that we all share, so why is it a topic that so many of us try to avoid? If you’re interested in exploring the many facets of aging well, we invite you to participate in a new conversation program, Living Audaciously: Aging, Elderhood and Mortality in the Second Half of Life. Over the course of three sessions, we’ll talk about the challenges and opportunities of growing older, the concept of the wise elder and sage, and many of the themes encountered in a well-lived life, including meaning, legacy, regrets and uncertainty, all with a focus on enriching and empowering our lives.
We’ll receive monthly packets containing spiritual exercises and evocative questions. We’ll explore them independently, and then come together for a two-hour conversation to share our experiences, insights and questions. A morning group will meet from 10 am to noon on the second Tuesday of the month: Nov. 10, Dec. 8, and Jan. 12. An evening group will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on the third Tuesday of the month: Nov. 17, Dec. 15, and Jan. 19. If you would like to join the program but some of these dates
don’t work for you, please let the church office know; the schedule is flexible and we hope to accommodate as many participants as possible.
