June 2, 2026

June is Pride Month! It began in response to the Stonewall Uprising in New York City, which occurred in June 1969. You can read more about this on the Library of Congress website HERE.

Since then, cities and towns across the nation have supported and celebrated the LGBTQ+ community during June with marches and other special events.

To that end, we wanted to share a few opportunities to participate in local events this month!

Happy Pride Month!

Pride Flag and Proclamation in Westborough

(note new location)

For the month of June, the Pride flag will be hanging in Westborough at Bay State Green, which is located at 10 Union Street. (pictured here)

Please note: The proclamation was signed by the four members of the Select Board who were physically present at the May 26, 2026 meeting.

Local Pride Events

(that we know about so far!)

Grab some sidewalk chalk or look for buckets of chalk put out to use. Help spread joy and love throughout the month of June. You'll find chalk available at Villari's, Cha Cha N Beans, Craftlab, Canvas N Cup and other spots around town. This initiative was organized by a local community member.

Cheer on the runners and walkers (this part is free)!

Free to attend!

Join Westborough Connects and other local organizations and residents from around the region for this 6th annual Pride Festival in Hopkinton! Learn more HERE. (Note new location!)

Interested in volunteering for this event? Please reach out to Tracy LaCroix (tracyconnects2@gmail.com) for information.

Beyond Local (but still in MA!)

Visit MA has developed a "Guide to Pride," compiling local events happening throughout the month. Beyond June, you can also visit this website for a comprehensive list of LGBTQ+ History & Cultural Sites.
