Retreat Reflection
55 of us, including 6 young adults, 5 youth, and 5 children just got back from North Carolina where we spent the weekend for this year’s parish retreat. We laughed, told stories, played laser tag, ate s’mores and sang songs around the fireplace. It was an incredible weekend of belonging and renewal. Our retreat leader told a story of a woman he encountered who had tattooed on her arm “the light shines in the darkness,” (John 1:5) and when he commented on the words from Scripture, she responded, “oh I didn’t know it was from the Bible, I just saw this spray painted on a building” and he talked about how the Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). God works through people and their stories in ways beyond what we can imagine.
This weekend, we shared our stories and dreamed and imagined about what it meant to build each other up and encourage each other. The kids in my group named all the ways that they saw people in their lives caring for each other, like a parent bringing the other parent coffee, or sharing our toys with each other, or welcoming a stranger into a friend group. What all these things point to is the ultimate truth that we all belong to each other and that we affirm each other’s worth and value. In an ever-divisive world, it is important for us to know that we belong and that our value is not tied to the work we produce but to our identity in Christ. This Sunday we have the pleasure of welcoming four newly baptized and as we stand together to renew our own baptismal covenant, I hope that you know that you are loved and valued beyond measure, not only by this community but by the one who created the world and sustains all things in place.

Outreach Serves our Partners During Lenten and Easter Season
During Lent we typically give up something we enjoy or add an activity that is good for our bodies and our souls. This year, we invite you to join us in doing something good for your soul as we support our long-time Outreach ministry partner, Community Assistance Center, CAC, while doing something good for others. CAC created a new program entitled “Congregation of the Month,” and in March we kick-off their program at Holy Innocents. The purpose of the program is to provide much-needed food for their pantry, which aligns perfectly with the Lenten focus on giving time, care, and comfort to others. Throughout the season we will collect food items at church or offer an online shopping opportunity to help CAC fill their pantry.
As we prepare for a joyous Easter, we will host our Outreach partner Solidarity Sandy Springs for their third Easter Egg Hunt at Holy Innocents. What a wonderful celebration to cap off the Easter season with hundreds of children searching for colorful eggs on the Lower School playground, with a visit from the Easter Bunny and goodies and activities donated by local sponsors and partners.
There will be easy volunteer opportunities at church to help support CAC and Solidarity during the Lenten and Easter season. More information will be available during the weeks ahead. We ask you to join us with generous and joyful hearts as we serve our Outreach partners.

Burn the Mortgage
Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 11:15 AM
We have almost paid off the note from our 2012 renovation (the balance is just under $10,000). So, it is time to celebrate this big moment. After the 10:15 service on Sunday, March 30, we will go outside to the luminarium (the big cauldron in the memorial garden) and burn the loan documents. Since it will be Lent, we encourage you to write down things you also want to be done with - and cast those burdens, sins, injuries, grudges, and worries into the fire. We will share some prayers (it is the Episcopal Church, we always have a liturgy), burn the mortgage and our burdens, and then celebrate with some "hot" themed food together. Join us for a celebration!
