NYC Walk: Hudson River Greenway
--arranged and lead by Warren Jahn--
Monday August 10, 2026
Rain/Excessive Heat Date: Monday August 17, 2026
Spouses, Significant Others, and Guests Welcome!
Our August walk reprises our very first walk. But instead of walking south, we will start at Battery Park and walk north along the Hudson River through the string of waterfront parks to Hudson Yards. Along the way we will encounter the World Financial Center, Battery Park City, Little Island, and Chelsea Piers.
--GETTING THERE--
Take the 8:29 AM train from Westport to Grand Central.
Meet on the platform in Westport or find your own way to the clock at Grand Central. Scheduled arrival at Grand Central is 9:43 AM.
IMPORTANT!
- Senior Tickets are now accepted on morning peak trains.
- Do NOT buy train tickets before the morning of the walk. Metro North train tickets now expire at 4:00AM the next day. Any tickets bought in advance will not be valid.
Please tell Warren if you will not be on the train; plan to arrive at the Grand Central clock by 9:45 AM.
--ABOUT THE WALK--
From Grand Central we will take the #4 or #5 subway to Bowling Green. Our walk will follow the Hudson River Greenway/Empire State Trail north along the waterfront to 42nd Street.
Lunch at Market 57 on 15th Street. This newish food hall allows us to purchase from a variety of vendors and gather to eat indoors or in the rooftop 2 acre park overlooking Little Island and the Hudson River. Food choices include:
Al Volo - Italian
Ammi - Homestyle Indian
Bessou - Japanese
Essex Pearl - Lobster Rolls and Seafood
Glizzy’s - Gourmet Hot Dogs
