Greetings!
Life at WCHS is busy these days and we wanted to share some of what's happening behind the scenes with your support.
It's kitten season. The kittens are streaming through our doors every single day. Just in the past week, two moms with kittens arrived in tow. Last night, two tiny babies too young to be without mom. Some are healthy, some are sick, some are feral and badly in need of socialization. Not all of them make it, which breaks our hearts, but still we must keep going to help as many as we can. We need your help to keep all these tiny mouths fed, for vaccinations, dewormer, spay and neuter surgeries. We also need more foster homes for kittens and moms with kittens to give them a better chance at surviving and thriving until they can be adopted.
We're also getting many adult cats and dogs who need our help. Miles is the sweetest, happiest orange tabby. He arrived in pretty rough shape with what we believe to be a burn on his head from a hot car engine, and ears full of mites. He injured his ears scratching at them, and spent a couple of weeks in an adorable pink collar to protect him. He's all healed up now, and one of the happiest guys we've seen in awhile.
We ran a dog adoption promotion last week to help our dogs find loving homes faster, as we have a waiting list of people whose life circumstances are forcing them to surrender their dogs. Sadly, many folks are losing housing and can no longer keep their babies with them, a situation that breaks our hearts. Choppa, Ruby, Moxie, and Enoch found their homes, but many are still waiting. Ziggy, a darling 7 year old lab mix has been here for almost a month. We need fosters for dogs too, especially ones who are nervous in the shelter environment.
Thank you so much for everything you do to support our bustling shelter and clinic. We couldn't do anything we do without your kindness and generosity.
