EDC Shares Strategic Plan to Strengthen Local Economy

The New Castle-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) recently released its strategic plan for 2026–2029. The plan establishes a roadmap designed to strengthen the local economy by supporting businesses, developing sites, attracting investment, and creating opportunities for residents.

The EDC’s core programs include support for existing businesses, business attraction, entrepreneurship support, tourism development/marketing, and site/community development.

Local Leaders Learn About Long-Term Flood Recovery Efforts

After the floodwaters receded in August, hundreds of Henry County residents remained impacted by the aftermath of historic rainfall. The recent New Castle-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) board meeting focused on long-term recovery efforts and the progress that’s underway.

The flooding affected more than 600 households, which include over 1,100 children. Thirty-two households remain displaced and are relying on state assistance and housing vouchers.

Local Partners Support Entrepreneurs &
Small Business Growth Through REaP

Regional partners are preparing to launch the Regional Entrepreneurial Pipeline (REaP), a regional initiative designed to support new and early-stage entrepreneurs across East Central Indiana.

REaP will provide practical, hands-on support for individuals who have a business idea, operate a side business, recently started a business, or are ready to take the next step toward formal business ownership.

19 Homes Sold Since Mid-August

Brookfield Farms is an 85-home residential community created to expand affordable housing options in New Castle. The project was made possible by matching state READI grant funds from Henry County and the City of New Castle, with support from Forge ECI. Site preparation was completed by DC Develop, with Ryan Homes leading home construction.
