Train for Proficiency in Every Operations Role
Attendance records tell you who attended the training. Performance and assessments show what they learned.
(Trainers, managers, supervisors, and all operations staff)
REQUIREMENT
Personnel must be trained to proficiency for their duties so they operate equipment safely, provide appropriate assistance, and treat riders with disabilities respectfully. FTA explains that proficiency means performing these responsibilities consistently and reliably.
PUT IT INTO PRACTICE
Match the training to the job. Drivers need practical equipment and rider-assistance skills. Dispatchers need to assign appropriate vehicles and help resolve accessibility issues. Supervisors need to recognize and correct inconsistent service. Use realistic demonstrations or scenarios to check understanding.
Take action. Choose one skill to verify at your next safety meeting or refresher training.
