A Word From The Chair

As we enter the Holiday Season facing road closures, supply chain interruptions, Canada Post dealing with closed highways and Local disasters we may feel like crawling into our beds and pulling the covers over our heads.
I try to remember that someone, somewhere still needs me to keep going, one foot in front of the other. Welcome to December 2021 let's find someone who needs us to be there.

Let your light shine!
30th Anniversary Celebration

Well, here we go again. Another devasting challenge in a year teaming with them! From a pandemic to wildfires, now floods, slides and loss of highway access.

Time to #shoplocal #supportlocal and to let our lights shine! How best to let others know we are here then to light up our regional spot in this province.

Christmas is coming and now more than ever we need to share our care, compassion and how we are all connected. How best to do this? Let your light shine! Each one, reach one and turn it on! How amazing will it be to see all of these Christmas lights shining bright during one of the most challenging years? No matter where you drive in Gold Country, BC lights will be shining bright connecting the hearts, minds and neighbors.

Let’s encourage each other and put up some lights to create a collective heartfelt glow that can be seen for miles and miles! (or kilometers, and kilometers). Our neighbors to the south (Hope, Cascades & Canyon) are running a Hope for the holidays campaign. Let’s accept this as a challenge and shine our lights in unison and solidarity for spreading some hope, and light up the night!
Let’s let the world know we are still here and are open for business despite wildfires, floods, mudslides. We are resilient!

Our sincerest condolences to the loved ones of those who where lost during this devasting atmospheric river disaster, and to those who have had to endure the affects of the flooding and slides.
We are working together to bring forward projects to assist the local businesses and to promote shop local/support local endeavors.

For those planning to go out into the Gold Country Back country see the following information. There are a number of backroads that are closed due to the recent wildfire activity. Please also note that due to this there are some geocaches on the Gold Country Geo Tour that are currently disabled. Please do not attempt to find these disabled caches for the time being. All currently disabled caches of the Gold Country Geotour will be checked and maintained by the GC road crew following all safety and health guidelines on a as soon as permitted basis. DO NOT go into restricted areas!
*Also note Deadman Vidette road also remains closed.
Stay safe and follow all current safety and health guidelines.

Gold Country: Ashcroft Mesa

The welcoming 'HIKE" sign was a great start to our adventure on the mesa. This mesa is lovely and so interwoven with crisscrossing trails that eventually took us very close to the cache. We saw a lot of pretty cactus in am as we meandered our way across the mesa to GZ and then back again, taking photos of the flora and also the scenery which was pretty amazing. We signed the log, and left some Landsharkz trinkets for future visitors to enjoy. Thanks for bringing us here!
