I just got back from our 3rd annual family beach vacation—and once again, we stayed right here at home on beautiful Navarre Beach, renting the same condo we’ve enjoyed the past few years. There’s something incredibly special about vacationing in your hometown when that town happens to have exquisite white sandy beaches, a laid-back, small-town feel, and just enough to do to keep you entertained—without ever feeling like a tourist.

We had an absolute blast and created more memories than I can count. From sandy toes to late-night laughter, I’m just so grateful to live in a place that offers rest, reconnection, and the kind of peace that makes you want to stay forever.

Navarre Beach is truly one of a kind—local, peaceful, unfussy, and filled with room to breathe. I know these days with my kids and grandkids are precious, and I’m soaking up every second.

🏖️ Stay Safe at the Beach: Know the Flag Warnings Before You Dive In! 🏄‍♂️☀️

A day at the beach should be nothing short of relaxing and fun, especially here on the Emerald Coast. But before you grab your sunscreen and head for the waves, it’s crucial to understand the Beach Warning Flags. These flags aren’t just decorations—they keep you informed about current conditions, ensuring your beach day stays safe and enjoyable.

Here’s what each flag means:



🟢 Green Flag – Low Hazard, Calm Conditions

A green flag means the surf is calm and a great day to enjoy the water. Go ahead—dive in and make the most of it!

🟣 Purple Flag – Dangerous Marine Life Spotted

If you see a purple flag, be extra cautious. It indicates the presence of potentially harmful marine life, such as jellyfish, stingrays, or even sharks. While the water may look inviting, always be aware of your surroundings.

🟡 Yellow Flag – Moderate Hazard, Stronger Currents & Surf

Think of yellow like a traffic light—it signals caution. Moderate surf and currents can make swimming more challenging, especially for weaker swimmers. If you’re heading in, stay close to shore and be mindful of changing conditions.

🔴 Single Red Flag -High Hazard, Strong Currents & Rough Surf

A single red flag means the ocean is powerful and unpredictable. Only experienced swimmers should consider entering the water; even then, it’s best to stay extra cautious. When in doubt, staying on the shore and enjoying the view is safer.

🚫 Double Red Flag – Water Closed to Public

When you see two red flags, the water is off-limits to everyone. These conditions are hazardous due to high surf, strong rip currents, or an approaching storm. Swimming is prohibited, and going in the water could result in fines or legal consequences.
