Three Keys to Setting Healthy Boundaries

Emily-Jean “EJ” Wagner, a dedicated parenting coach and former teacher who is redefining the way parents approach family values and foster emotional intelligence in their home.

Parenting is a balancing act, and setting healthy boundaries can be one of the toughest challenges. In this workshop, parents will explore three key strategies for establishing boundaries that promote respect, calm, and cooperation in the home. With a focus on simplicity and practicality, you’ll leave with actionable steps you can begin implementing right away.

During the session, we’ll:

  • Dive into three essential keys for setting boundaries.
  • Reflect on a boundary you'd like to strengthen (or introduce) in your home and develop a personalized plan to put it into action.
  • Receive guidance and support in a warm, non-judgmental environment that embraces the realities of parenting.

Whether you’re struggling with consistency, need a fresh approach, or just want to feel more confident in your parenting, this workshop will equip you with the tools to set healthy boundaries that support both you and your child(ren) in a way that feels achievable.

Tickets will be available Feb. 27

How We Learn: the Neuropsychology Behind Waldorf Education

An informative slide-show presentation followed by interactive conversation

Antje Bojarsky, Woodland Star’s pedagogical director and seventh grade teacher, explains the neuropsychology and educational research that supports Waldorf education. The findings of modern neuroscience help us understand the reasons for Waldorf’s developmental approach and curricular framework and practices from a scientific perspective. This presentation informs parents about why we teach what we teach, when we teach it, and how we teach it when the primary reason for our educational choices is the support of a child’s physiological and neurological development. This is the original impulse behind Waldorf education.

Antje has masters degrees in science education and in educational leadership: curriculum and instruction and has been a Waldorf educator, teacher trainer, and mentor for several decades.

Session II: January 8, 2025

Movement and Learning: How Healthy Movement Creates the Conditions for Learning and for Life

Valerie Baadh Garrett, a Waldorf movement specialist and co-author of “Waldorf Games Handbook”, will share research and insights on how early movements in the young child can develop into skilled movements that support learning throughout the years. From early childhood through adolescence, this essential movement progression creates capacities for learning and for life.

We will explore some of these movements in games and activities. Learn how the Waldorf approach through the grades supports this valuable development, and discuss how parents can weave nourishing movement “snacks” into daily home life.
