AT ST. BART'S

Join Us For Fall Clean Up!

Saturday, November 7, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help us prepare our building and grounds for the change in seasons!

Our annual fall clean up is scheduled for Saturday, November 7 from 8:30 to noon. (Rain date is Saturday, Nov 14 from 8:30 - noon.)

Many hands make light work, and also make the work fun! Please click on this link for a list of tasks. Come for any length of time, and bring work gloves and tools you like to work with - rakes, tarps, clippers, weed whackers, etc. (There are also tools in the shed.). Come for the fun and fellowship!

Art Festival Raises $15,000

The in-person phase of the 18th annual Yarmouth Art Festival wrapped up on Saturday, after hundreds of people came through the sanctuary transformed into an art gallery. So far, 74 pieces have sold, and we expect the total raised for local nonprofits will match the $15,000 raised last year.

Thanks to about 40 volunteers at St. Bart's who made the show successful.

The show and sale now moves online through Nov. 7. See the Show Catalog for items available for purchase. During this phase, buyer and artist will arrange delivery.

All net proceeds from submission fees, sales commissions, and donations will go to five local nonprofits selected by the Vestry: Friendship House, St. Elizabeth’s Jubilee Center, Sea Change Yoga, Growing to Give, and Maine Prisoner Advocacy Coalition.

Help Fill Thanksgiving Tables!

This Thanksgiving, St. Bart’s is helping the Yarmouth Food Pantry provide holiday meals for our neighbors in need. Our goal is to collect 60 boxes of turkey stuffing mix to help complete Thanksgiving dinners for local families.

Please bring your donations to church and place them in the collection bin in the Narthex by Sunday, November 15. Thank you for helping make Thanksgiving a little brighter for our neighbors!

2027 Pledge Campaign Update

Our pledge campaign is going very well. We are 55% of the way to the Vestry’s goal to increase our pledge budget by 11% for 2027.

If you make a pledge for next year, please consider doing so digitally. Please click here to pledge online.

If you have any questions please contact one of our Stewardship Committee members: Paule French, Jim Berg, Jeff Groves, John Duncan or Jay or Basil Souder. Thank you!

Christmas Fair Preparation: Silent Auction

This “table” at the fair is one of our biggest contributors to the bottom line because so many of you help our Table Chair, Laurie Hyndman, source wonderful items to be sold. Many people provide gift certificates from their favorite spa, restaurant, shop, or museum, as well as actual pieces of fine jewelry and art or stays at a camp or lodge!

Please consult Laurie if you are unsure about an item you are considering. You may drop your item in the office during regular office hours or bring it to church any Sunday. We can’t over-emphasize the importance of many people helping make this an exciting and lucrative auction!

Harvest Dinner: November 7

St. Bart's Harvest Dinner is coming right up! Click here to RSVP.

Building Community, Creating Change: November 15

Join us after worship on Sunday, November 15, for a conversation with Bayard “Bay” Love about an exciting opportunity to create meaningful change in our communities through broad-based community organizing.

Bay and several members of St. Bart's have been exploring an effort to bring Mainers together across organizations, backgrounds, and interests to build relationships, identify shared concerns, and work collectively to shape the future of their communities.

Bay is a Partner at the Groundwater Institute, where he works with leaders and organizations to create lasting institutional and systems change. He brings extensive experience in organizational strategy and community organizing.

Stay after the service to learn more about this effort and how St. Bart's might be part of it!

Carbon Challenge Worksheets

A huge thank-you to all who enthusiastically participated in the

Carbon Challenge! From the worksheets turned in we averaged 150 pounds per household, meeting our goal. Each reduction of 150 pounds is the equivalent of three mature trees planted.

Next year during the Season of Creation we hope to collaborate with Yarmouth-area churches to form a collective Carbon Challenge goal of 60,000 pounds of carbon saved!

Climate Future Film Festival

Reflection by Sukie Curtis

During the Season of Creation, the Climate Action Committee hosted the “Climate

Future Film Festival,” ten short films by younger filmmakers, each exploring “the artistic

and human response to climate change.” An audience of 18 people watched part one;

22 saw part two—a total of 30 different individuals saw at least half the films.

Here are some comments from a few people who saw the films...

Winter coat and boot drive kick-off for St Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry

October is winter coat drive month for St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry

Time to clean out your winter clothing closet for donations to our Outreach partner St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry. Goodwill is also a terrific place to get winter coats and boots, with special sales every week.

Please bring in winter coats for the month of October (We’ll be asking for winter boots for the month of November.) Large sizes for both men and women are especially needed. There are two bins for St Elizabeth’s in the porch area. You can also give them to Harriet Davis. If you would rather write a check to support this effort, make it out to St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry and leave it in the plate, the office or give it to Harriet.

Reach out to our St E’s representative Harriet Davis if you have questions.
