AAHOA NEWS

Help AAHOA Tackle One of the Industry's Biggest Pain Points

At AAHOA, we consistently hear from our members that property insurance remains one of the most frustrating and costly challenges facing hotel owners today. In response, AAHOA is conducting research to better understand the scope of this issue across our membership – and explore ways the association might be able to support members in navigating it more effectively.

We're asking members to complete a brief form to authorize their insurance agent to share relevant property insurance information with AAHOA. All information will remain strictly confidential and will be used only by AAHOA as part of this research effort. Click here to complete the form.

Your participation ensures that hotelier voices remain at the center of the conversation. If you have any questions, please contact us at insurance@aahoa.com.

AAHOA Applauds House Passage of the Hotel Fees Transparency Act

Earlier this week, the U.S. House passed the Hotel Fees Transparency Act, which aims to enhance price transparency by requiring hotels and short-term rentals to disclose the total cost of a booking, including all fees, up front.

"Transparency is key to building trust with our guests and to ensuring a level playing field across the hospitality industry," said AAHOA Chairman Kamalesh (KP) Patel. "AAHOA will always champion policies that promote fairness and empower consumers to make informed decisions. This is an issue that transcends party lines, as today’s vote powerfully demonstrates. We are grateful to lawmakers from both sides of the aisle in the House for passing this bill."

AAHOA Calls on LA City Council to Reject Labor Ordinance

On Wednesday, AAHOA Members, Greater Los Angeles Area Regional Director Naresh (ND) Bhakta and AAHOA President & CEO Laura Lee Blake joined Los Angeles City Councilmembers on the steps of City Hall in an effort to protect LA's tourism industry. They called on the City Council to reject a proposed labor ordinance which, if implemented, could lead to widespread layoffs impacting thousands of hotel employees.

"AAHOA stands with hotel owners and community partners who are doing everything they can to stay afloat, protect jobs, and serve their communities," said Blake. "Now is not the time to impose additional burdens on small businesses that are still recovering from the impacts of the wildfires and other recent events."
