For its 2025 end-of-year issue, Student Housing Business looked ahead to 2026 and beyond with a feature highlighting how the priorities of the current and future generations of residents are shaping student housing interiors. We connected the editor with Taylor Johnson client Mary Cook, founder and president of commercial interiors firm Mary Cook Associates, who noted today’s student residents aren’t just looking for the next “wow” amenity, but rather an environment where they feel safe, supported, accepted and important. “The most successful interiors reflect the specific values, culture and identity of the resident body, not a one-size-fits-all aesthetic,” she said in the resulting story.
