MAYOR'S UPDATE
From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin

As we enter the holiday season, please consider contributing food and toys to the many fine organizations throughout Ossining, including the Toys for Tots location at Village Hall. Since the holidays are so much about giving, your support is the best gift you can give our local businesses. Please consider shopping local to support our many small businesses: Shop Small this Small Business Saturday® on Nov 25th to kick off the season meaningfully.

I was very moved by the community gathering for a silent vigil with clergy from so many denominations this past Sunday. It was an honor to be together with the many who prayed for peace in the Middle East region and hoped for a better day for humanity. Thank you, BOMA, for all the work that you do in the community.

Thank you, Gullotta House, St. Ann Church, our Boy Scout troops, and all the volunteers who took the time to serve some delicious meals to those in need in our community. Gullotta House partners with the Church for this wonderful event every year, and we are very grateful—a special shout out to all those who donated so many turkeys.

Congratulations to a new store opening in Ossining, Den of Wax,  at 175 Main Street. What a fantastic turnout for the ribbon cutting. Did you know that vinyl records are back in style? These aren't old, resold records but brand-new, high-quality ones. I encourage all in the community to stop by the shop and look at all their amazing records, record players, and other cool merchandise. Great gifts for the holidays! Whenever possible, please shop local.

The application is still open for interested community members from the Village of Ossining for appointment to open positions on various Volunteer Boards, Commissions, and Committees.

Our Boards, Commissions, and Committees vary in size and involvement, yet all are designed to help shape and influence critical decisions and services for the Village of Ossining. We strive to fill all open positions with residents who are passionate and enthusiastic about serving.

There are openings on almost all of our Boards, Commissions, and Committees. For more information on each, please visit our website.

Please complete the online application linked below if you are interested. Interviews will be held in December, with appointments/selection done at the January 3, 202, Reorganization Meeting.

Join the Village Board in celebrating the honorary street renaming of Church Street and Highland Ave on Saturday, November 25th at 10:00 AM for our very own Sandy Galef.

There is so much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. Every day, I am thankful for everything our elected officials, volunteers, community leaders, and Village staff do to make the Village of Ossining thrive all year round. I am grateful to be your mayor.

I wish everyone in our community a joyful holiday – filled with new and old traditions that make your family's holiday special. Have a very happy Thanksgiving!

There is no Village Work Session this week due to the holiday. Our next meeting will be a Work Session on Wednesday, November 29th, at Village Hall.
