FRIDAY FLASH

September 29, 2023

A Message from Headmaster Scott

Dear Archway Trivium Families,

I need to apologize for a major oversight. Last year we introduced our new mascot, the Squire. This year, as we work to unify around this shared identity, we introduced our scholars to the Squire’s Pledge. This pledge is recited in unison at the beginning of each day. We believe that the pledge encapsulates what it means to be an Archway Trivium Squire. The words were chosen carefully and carry with them deep meaning. Please enjoy the text as we move into fall break. I would also like to invite you to join us for our first "Fieldside Chat" of the year on Friday, October 27 at 2:15pm wherein I will expound on the pledge for all. Please have a great fall break!

Read the Archway Trivium Squire's Pledge

Heartily Devoted,

Clay Scott, Ed.D.

Headmaster, Archway Trivium

Student Pledge Leaders: Carlie N., Jaxon W., Arthan S., Janessa W.

Parent/Teacher Conferences - October 9-10

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday - Tuesday, October 9-10. These evaluation conferences run 15 minutes as you meet with your child's homeroom teachers. You may also sign up to meet with specials teachers during conference week. The evaluation meetings are designed so your child's teacher may further describe their academic performance and discuss any questions you may have. These conferences are for parents/guardians only. Students should not be on campus on conference days. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions or for information regarding sign-ups.

Quarter 1 Student Evaluations

K-5 student evaluations for Quarter 1 will be available by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6 in the Powerschool Parent Portal. We ask that parents please log on to the parent portal before the office closes for fall break to ensure that you are able to access your account to view your child's evaluations. A successful login attempt will result in a message indicating the portal is closed. The portal will remain disabled until evaluations go out. At that time, the portal will be opened temporarily for you to view your students' report card(s). You will be notified by email on October 6 when evaluations are ready to view.

  • If your child was a student at Archway Trivium last year, you will use the same login as last year.

  • If you have new students for the 2023-24 school year (example: returning 4th grader but a new kindergartener or new from outside of the Great Hearts network), you will receive an email with their Access ID and Password information to add them to your existing account by Wednesday, September 27.

  • If you are new to Archway Trivium this year but attended another Great Hearts school last year, you will still use the same login and password that you used last year.

You can access the Powerschool Parent Portal website here. We have found that using Google Chrome or Firefox as your web browser is best. Please reach out to Stefany Dean at sdean@archwaytrivium.org if you have any questions about your Powerschool Parent Portal account.

Family Handbook e-Signature - Now Due!

Dear Families,

We are happy to announce that signing the Family Handbook will be done electronically this year through the Great Hearts Enrollment Parent Portal, making it more convenient and reducing the amount of paper needing to be printed. This is required of all families. To complete the process of signing, please follow the steps below:

  • Please log into the Great Hearts Enrollment/Parent Portal using your username and password. If you do not remember your log-in information, please click on the Forgot Password and follow the instructions.
  • Once you have logged into the enrollment system, scroll down and you will see a large box that says, Arizona Family Handbook.
  • In the Arizona Academy Family Handbook section, please click on the blue “Family Handbook Link and E-Sign” button.
  • For each child, please click the blue Show Application button then the green Review and E-Sign Family Handbook for the handbook link.
  • Once you review the handbook, navigate back to the Enrollment Parent Portal, accept and sign with your electronic signature.
  • After you accept and hit NEXT, you will receive an email confirmation to the email registered in the enrollment system.
  • Please complete the above steps for each student.

If you experience any technical difficulties, please contact the front office.

Academy Giving

Did you know that you can double or even triple your Community Investment donations to Archway Trivium? Many companies will match their employees’ donations to our school through their Corporate Gift Matching Programs. And it’s an easy way to increase the impact of your donations!

Search our directory to see if your company is listed. If they aren’t listed here, please take the extra step to inquire with your Human Resources department to find out if your company offers a matching gifts program. Please contact Tina Swartz, at tina.swartz@greathearts.org with any questions.

Thank you so much for your donations and for your matches!

This is a great way to celebrate our love of history and literature. All students are encouraged to participate!

Please Note: Students must complete and return a Costume Proposal Form to their classroom teacher by Thursday, October 26 in order to participate.

*Please remember that the character you choose should be from one of the Classics-to-Keep from the K-12 list, Greek or Roman Mythology or a historical character from our History or Science curriculum. It’s preferred, but not required, that your character looks like the author’s description of the character and not a movie version. Late Pick-up Policy

We have been doing very well with our on-campus student pick-up and drop-off routines as of late. Every year, it takes a few weeks for us to settle into a routine so that the pickup runs smoothly. Now that pick-up times are running efficiently, we ask parents to ensure they arrive on time to pick up their students.

We will begin enforcing our Late Pick-up Policy on Tuesday, September 5. Please make sure you are arriving within 30 minutes of the end of school to pick up your scholar in order to avoid being charged a late pick-up fee. Parents arriving after this time will be required to sign out their child from the MPR and may be assessed a $2 per minute, per student late fee. All late pick-up fees will be added to your Configio account and are due upon receipt. For more information, please see page 46 of our Family Handbook.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - You will be charged from 3:35pm

Wednesday - You will be charged from 1:55pm

Communication Updates

Latest News image.png

School Messenger Communication

Great Hearts and Archway Trivium continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.

Email Communications

If you know of parents who are not receiving these communications, please ask them to check their junk/promotions email folders, and then email bmcdonald@archwaytrivium.org for assistance.

You can also find ALL school-wide communications on our website on the Latest News page.
