We’re On A Mission

Purpose, some say, is the sweet spot where you find the soul-filling way to put your skills and passions into action. Almost 45 years ago, our founding members gave us a three-fold purpose: promote the art of quilting, encourage guild friendships, and build meaningful community relationships. Every day I see you embracing and advancing those ideas by putting your skills and passions into action on behalf of our guild. Doesn’t it feel good?

Happiness is not a goal…it’s a by-product of a life well lived…Eleanor Roosevelt

Finding Your Passion and Running with It

Members Always Free

Visitor Tickets, $10, Here

Jean Impey is a highly sought-after speaker and instructor who captivates audiences with her enthusiasm, humor, and passion for creativity. Her Friday lecture explores how following your passion can unlock limitless creative potential.

It all began with a Spider Web Quilt in 2007. What started as a single quilt quickly became an ongoing series as new ideas flowed faster than Jean could make them. As she says, "When one thing leads to another, and you find something that clicks, you have to keep at it. Maybe that's what you call a series?"

MYSTERY PAINT CHIP CHALLENGE

Our challenge quilts for the Mystery Paint Chip Challenge will be revealed in October...and we'll learn about next year's Challenge, too!

Mystery Paint Chip Challenge quilts must be entered online by midnight Monday, October 26. The Challenge Committee will use this time to create a slide presentation for both meetings so all members can vote on their favorite quilts.

Bring your Mystery Paint Chip Challenge quilt to either of the October meetings. Quilts brought to the Thursday Evening Group meeting will be held over until the Friday morning Guild meeting. Plan to arrive 30 minutes early so we can get the quilts ready for viewing. After the October meetings, all members can vote online for their favorite quilts. Awards will be made at the December meeting.

Click here to read all the details on the challenge rules, entering your quilt online, preparing it for the meetings, and the Guild-wide vote to select the winning quilts.

Want to help out?

Click here if you can loan your quilt stand to the Challenge Committee.

Click here if you can help hang the Challenge quilts at the meeting on Friday, October 30.

MATRIOTISM QUILT EXHIBIT

Celebrating 250 Years of Inspirational American Women

Through Quilts

The Matriotism exhibit just closed at the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum (SQTM) in Carrollton, GA. Over 600 visitors attended the 6-week show, which featured all 62 quilts. Dr. Marcia Bost wrote a full article of the exhibit, which was submitted for publication in the Blanket Statements, a quarterly newsletter published by the American Quilt Study Group.

62 Matriotism quilts were displayed at the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum during June through August 2026.

Next is the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, where the exhibit officially opens on November 7th. The Booth Museum has selected 24 quilts for its exhibit. Click here to see the list.

On November 4th, the Guild has been invited to lead the Booth Museum's monthly Art for Lunch (AFL) program. The Booth offers this program in advance of a special exhibit opening at the Museum. Our lineup of speakers includes Chris Ison, who will speak about the Guild; Devon Pfeif discussing the Matriotism Challenge and two of our artists; and Margaret Williams and Melinda Rushing, who will present their quilts and the techniques used to create them. After their presentations, the audience will be invited to visit with the ECQG speakers in the exhibition area.

Thanks to all of you who have a quilt(s) in the Matriotism exhibit. Without your amazing quilts, this traveling exhibit would never have happened!

Questions? Contact Lisa Walker, Matriotism Committee Chair.

AUGUST - SHOW & TELL

GOLDEN SCISSORS

Pat D.

Beth W.

Angela R.

Nora W.

Four quilters were awarded Golden Scissors at the August meeting. They were Pat Deacon, Beth Wallace, Angela Raymond, and Nora Whisenant. Golden Scissors quilts are large, so they take more time, effort, and patience to finish. The Guild is proud of all who receive this award!

Thanks to Nora Whisenant for filling in for Meridith Mask when she was out-of-town. It was appreciated!

To qualify for Golden Scissors, your quilt must have a perimeter of at least 280 inches, be made entirely by one person, and be submitted within one year of completion. A Golden Thimble will be awarded if that same quilt is hand-quilted.
