MAY 13, 2026

Greetings!,

This SWWAP Newsletter shares details of an upcoming rally. The weather looks like it will be great, a change from the chilly events we have held earlier this year. Celebrate the season while exercising 1st Amendment Rights. Expect an inspirational program and a powerful visual presence as we . . .

SWWAP invites you to a specially themed Rally Against Fascism at Liberty Park, located at 1201 Cox Drive, on May 16, at 1 pm. Ken Lonnquist, Todd Phipps and other local talent will provide topical music for this event. After the program, attendees are again invited to practice their First Amendment rights with signs on the sidewalk of well-traveled Springdale Street. A core principle behind this and all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action.

We honor the 16 million Americans who served during World War II. Famously called “The Greatest Generation” by journalist Tom Brokaw, they came of age during the Depression and fought bravely against fascism to preserve freedom for all. May 16 is Armed Forces Day. On this day we remember and honor the documented 416,800 Americans who died fighting fascism abroad in WWII and 71,278 who were wounded in action. We thank all those in the armed forces those who have served and are currently serving.

➡️ Be sure to check out the inspirational examples of past battles agains fascism contained in this newsletter.

The Forgotten Fight Against Fascism

An interesting and important story of American citizens' involvement to defeat fascism leading up to World War II.

No pasaran - They Shall Not Pass

During the Spanish Civil War (1936-39), almost forty thousand men and women from 52 countries, including 2,800 Americans, volunteered to travel to Spain and join the International Brigades to help fight fascism. The U.S. volunteers served in various units and came to be known collectively as the Abraham Lincoln Brigade.

Below is are inspirational video which pays tribute
to those who fought fascism abroad in the Lincoln Brigade.
