MATCHED WITH NALAH FOR 2 YEARS

What has been the most memorable moment in your match?  

It has been so awesome to see Nalah develop new skills and become more confident in who she is. Nalah participates in cheer during the winter, and I've been lucky enough to attend a few of her events. Seeing her growth from last year to the current season has been one of the most memorable moments for me as her Big Sister! 

Why does your match work so well?

Nalah and I have found that we have a lot in common - from being eldest daughters in our respective families, to enjoying breakfast food, to simply hanging out at the park and being silly together. We are both willing to try new things, and I think it naturally strengthens our bond when we go on adventures during our outings. Her mom Moriah has also been a wonderful support system and has helped us flourish as a match. 

How does it feel to be a Big?

Being a Big Sister to Nalah is incredibly rewarding. It sounds corny, but you really do learn so much about yourself from spending time with your Little. Nalah's ability to laugh and have fun always reminds me to find the little joys in my own life! I think that it's one of the best ways to volunteer within the Charlotte community.

BBBSCC Invites you to the Big Kick Soccer Clinic, sponsored by Johnson & Wales University 

Join us for a soccer clinic! The clinic will include:

• A soccer skills clinic and scrimmage match
• A mentorship panel and Q&A at the clubhouse
• Interactive drills and conversations

Bigs & Littles grades 8+ are invited to an interactive workshop: "You can use Hip Hop and Mentoring!?"

Once thought of as an odd pairing, Facilitator David Spellmon will show you how Hip-Hop lyrics can boost up Self-Confidence and Relationship Building skills. Dinner will be provided.
