Celebrating Growth at SFDS!

Summer at SFDS is One for the Books!

As summer comes to a close and we prepare to welcome our students back for the 2026–27 school year, we’re taking one more moment to celebrate our students, who are some of the most outstanding students across the city.

For decades, families, educators, alumni, volunteers, donors, and friends have come together to ensure that Deaf, DeafBlind, and Deaf Disabled children have every opportunity to learn, grow, communicate, and thrive.

At the close of the 2025–26 school year, we proudly celebrated our youngest learners in Pre-K taking their next step forward. Our graduating eighth-grade class reached an important milestone as they prepared for new adventures beyond SFDS. We wish our graduates and their families continued success, and remember, you always have a home at SFDS!

Throughout the school year, students and staff celebrated World Read Aloud Day, welcomed families and special guests for our beloved Tuesday Tales surprise parent guest reader program, and shared in the excitement of storytelling.

One of the year's most meaningful moments came during our annual fundraiser Casino Night. Together, we proudly reached and exceeded our $20,000 goal, helping ensure that SFDS can continue providing exceptional opportunities for our students.

Through our Empowerment Saturday Program, children and their families accessed meaningful educational, recreational, and community-building experiences at no cost.

However, the learning and community connection didn't stop when school ended.

We showed up this summer at the Perkins School for the Blind CVI Conference, where LeeRose and our Executive Director, Dr. Jodi L Falk represented SFDS.

How we Showed up for Disability Pride Month

To close out the beautiful celebration that is Disability Pride Month, SFDS welcomed the brilliant teaching artists for Capoeira in Every Sense, a summer experience our students will remember for years to come.

September is Right Around the Corner!

As we prepare to open our doors for another school year, we are filled with gratitude.

Because of you, SFDS continues to be more than a school.

It is a place where children discover their voices, families find connection, and a community comes together to build brighter futures.

To our returning families, welcome back. To those joining the SFDS community for the first time, welcome home.

Here's to the 2026–27 school year!

With gratitude,

SFDS

We invite you to support our mission and help us continue creating these enriching experiences for our students. Please consider donating to St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf.

Together, we can make a difference.
