Greetings!
This past week, I have begun my farewell tour around the Archdiocese, and I have to say that the experience has been profound. Knowing that I have not been in schools at any depth since the pandemic began, knowing that the schools have not just coped, but have flourished during this pandemic amidst all the changing regulations, knowing that life as we have known it pre-pandemic has significantly changed, well, to say it mildly, we are so very blessed. Blessed by mission driven principals and teachers, who model love for one another that positively and directly impact the lives of families – your work has been a rock to cling to during this storm – you have been there. We do “reach higher” and rely on our faith to guide us. As much as we sometimes think we are in charge, our faith reminds us that we are the channel of Jesus’ peace we strive to provide to all who enter our doors. The following prayer from Thomas Merton illustrates what each of you has managed to accomplish during this time, and I am so very grateful!
“You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope.”
We keep you in our prayers of gratitude,
KRISTIN DIXON | Superintendent
Office for Catholic Schools | Archdiocese of Seattle
