President's Message

Dear Valued Members and Friends,

2023 was successful thanks to your generous support and the dedication and great behind the scenes work of our officers Carla Lacerda, Paula Galhardo, Helder Waiandt, Leonardo Molinari and our office staff, Juliana Wenzel, Mariana Vilela and Daniel Zambrano. We established new governance and financial controls and created a new ethics policy. We organized BRATECC’s first mayoral delegation to Brazil with City of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and the Greater Houston Partnership, signed new cooperation agreements the Brazilian Institute of Petroleum, Oil and Gas (IBP), the State of Rio de Janeiro Minister of Energy’s Office, strengthened our ties and aligned with ApexBrasil and organized events and valuable one-on-one meetings in Texas and Brazil between elected officials and industry leaders to advance our mission of fostering ties between Brazil and the State of Texas. We added new members in new sectors, most notably with the establishment of a mining committee chaired by Jose Luis Vidal and new members Norsk Hydro and BEMISA. We relocated our offices to the same building to join the Brazilian Consulate and reaffirmed our commitment to Texan agencies at the municipal, county and state levels. One of our proudest moments was the City of Houston’s proclamation of “BRATECC Day” on September 24th, in recognition of our twenty-two years of building ties and relationships between the two regions we serve. We have a lot more planned in 2024 and look forward to another successful year for the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce.
