Wrapping Up January

Preparing for Fantastic February

Another Congratulations to all our Athletes - Teck BC Cup

Congratulations to all our athletes who participated in the Teck BC Cup #1. Caledonia Nordic Athletes represented our club well throughout the weekend.

We had some warm temperatures and challenging conditions, but athletes, coaches and wax techs did an amazing job throughout the weekend.

Check out the Results

Once Again, Big thanks to all our dedicated volunteers, parents, coaches and groomers for making it such a great weekend for all to enjoy. We had lots of positive feedback from the visiting clubs.

Masters Skiing

Starting January 29th, come join us for a social group ski on Monday evenings. Meet in the main lodge (top floor) at 6pm.

This non-instructional group is intended for beginner and intermediate skiers who have cross country skied before and are looking to gradually try out more trails with a supportive group.

We will be alternating between classic and skate, and will be doing skate on January 29th. Be ready to ski at 6pm with a headlamp and whatever else you need to be comfy on the trails.

A valid club membership is required to participate.

See you then!

Watch the Weather

We are in another Warming Trend

Weather continues to be challenging this season. This week looks to be Warm with precipitation in everyone's least favorite form....rain.

Conditions will be variable throughout the week. The snow is saturated and difficult to ski. We recommend avoiding the trails if you can, especially if you are a beginner. We want to ensure a positive experience for our members and visitors, as well as preserve the snow we have for the season. Cold is coming.

As always, watch the Grooming Report for updates

Forerunners Needed!!

Looking for an excuse to ski and skip whatever else!

Become a forerunner for our racing events!

Prerequisite: good skier who can preferably ski classic and skate on all racing trails at Otway.

What is a forerunner? Forerunners ski the course right before the race to compact the snow to ensure that all skiers have similar conditions. They are also responsible for informing the race director of any potential danger to the skiers, e.g., a fallen tree. Most of all, it’s a great way to get a good excuse to ski all day!

The calendar is below; forerunners should ideally arrive 40 minutes before departure time. It would be ideal if you could be flexible with your time, as the schedule can change.

Forerunners get access to athletes' tents, food, and accreditation at worlds!

Please register by contacting me:

slamarche@engagesportnorth.com

I will need a phone number for a WhatsApp group and your email. Let me know which days work for you.

Lastly, for Worlds, if you can register with the organizing committee, it would allow us to make sure we have enough food for everyone! You can register as a general volunteer!

Spread the word!! It would be really appreciated if you could pass this along to follow skiers.

Thank you,
