Pastor Wende's Message

Joseph!  A familiar story to many. A story of a coat. A story filled with common family dynamics—disappointment, jealousy, unkind words, challenges, favoritism… Yet, Forgiveness is given and received. That’s God’s kind of forgiveness. Available for each of us, as well! 

Loving God, Like Joseph, we don’t always understand why things happen the way they do. We face challenges and disappointments. Yet, like Joseph, we also believe that You are at work in our lives. Give us faith to trust in You, confident that Your loving presence goes with us. Amen.

The Fox Valley Marathon is taking place this Sunday. It should be over, and roads should be open before the 9AM service, but please allow extra time for parking just in case. Click HERE to see the race maps.

• Help us to do away with jealousy. Instead of following in the path of Joseph’s brothers, lead us to walk in your light and truth.
• Inspire and sustain environmental activists around the world, and help us to listen deeply to Indigenous wisdom to care for creation.
• Inspire leaders to lead with humility and open hearts, and bring all peoples together in peace.
• Draw near to those who are suffering in mind, body, or spirit. Sustain them with your love and strength.
• As students and families are finding their rhythms this school year, be with them always, and grant teachers and all who work with youth your guiding care.

These and all our prayers we lift up to you, O God. Amen.

Please join us for another year of exciting Sunday morning adult education classes which here at GLC we call Stuff You Missed in Sunday School! We meet every Sunday at 10AM in room 213. Click HERE for more information.

We will be preparing, delivering, and serving dinner for 80 people at Holy Trinity Soup Kettle in Elgin on Sunday, September 29. We need volunteers to: bake the casseroles at GLC between services, deliver to Holy Trinity, and serve the meal at Holy Trinity. Click HERE for info and to sign up. Please have all items to GLC by Friday, September 27 at 12 pm.

Lazarus house always is on the lookout for help with overnight volunteering. They also love groups or families to come in and host special events, bingo nights, movie nights, crafts, etc. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please email Megan Lopez.
