We heard about Mr. Wobbles, an abandoned and disabled 1-year-old black-and-white cat in Clovis, NM, when a neighbor sent us a video of him and asked if we could help. When we saw the video, we knew we needed to take action and help this sweet boy—one of his back legs doesn’t work properly, causing his paw to drag on the ground—sometimes to the point it will bleed. How painful that must be!
Mr. Wobbles had shared a home with his cat friend, Trouble, until their owner moved away and abandoned them in the backyard of the home. By the time we became involved, the cats had been trying to survive outside, alone, for several months. We were concerned that Mr. Wobbles could be injured or killed by a predator because of his impaired leg. Thankfully, the neighbor agreed to help trap both Mr. Wobbles and Trouble since we are 3 hours away. It wasn’t easy, but they were finally able to secure both cats and get them to Edgewood to their foster home.
After a visit to our vet, we learned that Mr. Wobbles’ injured leg will require amputation, and the vet also recommended that Mr. Wobbles be neutered at the same time. Mr. Wobbles’ surgery, follow-up, and medication are expected to cost between $1400-1900—a huge expense for our small rescue, but one we can’t deny. Because here at June’s, every cat matters.
