“Nov 3rds Election Return Discussions”
Key Battleground States: Victories/Upsets
Wednesday, November 4th @5:00pm Central / 6:00pm Eastern - Zoom
_Join NWSOFA-Indivisible for an informal, interactive discussion of initial federal midterm election returns with Bruce Harris and Jim McGrath. Invite friends and fellow organizers to explore the early results and share perspectives from their states._
Bruce will lead the discussion, with Jim moderating the Illinois portion and other participants contributing perspectives from their states. Each state’s discussion will begin with a brief summary of initial returns, followed by audience input and questions. By raising their digital hands, three or four people in the audience will be able to speak for up to two minutes each for that state.
Time permitting, we expect to discuss Maine, New Hampshire, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Florida, Minnesota, Texas, Alaska, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Kansas, before opening the conversation to other states.
Bruce is a retired Florida attorney with 50 years of legal experience, including 19 years with the Palm Beach County School District. He will not be offering legal opinions.
Jim serves on the boards of NWSOFA-Indivisible and Greater Palatine Area Democrats and is an Issue Specialist with the League of Women Voters of Illinois. Both Bruce and Jim are regular participants in NWSOFA-Indivisible’s morning Coffee and Conversation Zoom meetings.
Bring your questions, observations, and state-level insights! This session will be recorded and shared on the NWSOFA.org YouTube channel for those who cannot attend or would like to watch again.

Today's Chaos” “Constitution”
Thursday, November 5th, 7pm Central / 8pm Eastern - Zoom
_Much like the American Revolution and the Founders themselves, our Constitution has been wrapped in mythology—often making it harder to understand its impact on our nation today. What forces shaped its creation, and how does that founding document continue to shape our shared life?_
Author Joel Edward Goza returns for Chapter Three of Origin Stories: How America’s Founding Shapes Today’s Chaos, presented by NWSOFA Indivisible. This session, “The Mission of the Constitution,” takes a closer look at the ideas and interests behind our nation’s governing framework.
Together, we’ll investigate the forces that drove the Constitutional Convention, the principles embedded in the Constitution, and how those foundations continue to influence our institutions, politics, and lives today.
_Join NWSOFA on Zoom Thursday, November 5, at 7 p.m. CST / 8 p.m. EST for this timely conversation with Joel Edward Goza, moderated by Marilyn._
Joel Edward Goza is the author of America’s Unholy Ghosts: The Racist Roots of Our Faith and Politics and Rebirth of a Nation: Reparations and Remaking America.

Sunday @ 9 am ..Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle
*Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle* by Emily and Amelia Nagoski explores why stress lingers in our bodies long after the immediate crisis has passed, and how we can interrupt the cycle through rest, connection, movement, boundaries, and joy. Organizers are regularly asked to absorb urgency, outrage, grief, and other people’s needs; without ways to process that load, exhaustion becomes a predictable political outcome.
This discussion is for anyone who wants to build a practice of care sturdy enough to support the long haul—because a movement cannot afford to treat its people as disposable.
It is an antidote to doomscrolling and magical thinking: organized people change what looks inevitable by showing up, making a plan, and bringing others with them.
