Sharing the Faith Naturally

We share many parts of our life. We're called to be able to share our faith with others, but for many of us that is intimidating. We worry we'll be awkward or off-putting.

Join Father Jonathan + for a short discussion about how we can work to be as comfortable having a casual conversation about our faith as we are discussing the Chiefs.

From Father Jonathan +

We are called to be a blessing

Greetings brothers and sisters,

Today, we held a funeral. Funerals are a time when it is appropriate for those of us to reflect on our own mortality. Death is a part of life, and it is the final challenge we must all face before we arrive victorious at the resurrection to come. However, the hope we have does not mean that death is not hard.

Many of us live with and fight chronic illnesses. Many of us are quite aware of our own mortality. Human frailty and the specter of death are frightening, but it is in those moments of fright when we have to hold fast to the Christian message.

I encourage you to hold onto Romans 14:8. “If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.”

No matter what, whether we live or we die, we are the Lord’s. Life has a lot of challenges it can throw at us, but at the end of the day spiritual maturity is being able to let go of the power those things hold over us. We are called to find solace and hope in “whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.” Let us pray for each other, and trust in the Lord.

Stewardship campaign continues

Explaining our theme

Last Sunday we kicked-off our annual Stewardship campaign. This year's theme is Plenty Good Room - a statement of divine abundance and radical, all-inclusive hospitality.

The theme emphasizes that in God’s house and creation, there is always more than enough to go around—more love, more peace, more creativity, and more grace.

It challenges us as a faith community to open our doors wide. Just as there is room for everyone in the kingdom of heaven, our parish is called to make people feel truly at home and invite others to the table without any barriers.

It connects gratitude to generosity. Stewardship is framed not as a reluctant budget-raising obligation, but as an overflow of our thankfulness. The ways we share our time, talent, and treasure are tangible responses to God's generous provision.

And finally, it goes beyond financial pledges to include how people steward their relationships with others, welcome newcomers, serve neighbors, and sustain the ministry and mission of the church together.

Please return your pledge card by placing it in the offering plate on Sunday. You can also pledge on-line (click here).

Outside stairs by Columbarium repaired

Thanks to our generous volunteers

A great, big, thank you to Rick Buckner and Rich Conn for repairing the outside stairs on the west side of the building by the Columbarium doors.

The foundation of the stairs had rotted and the Vestry considered several alternatives, including completely replacing the stairs with new wood or concrete steps.

When Rick Buckner, an experienced home builder, offered to help with the project, the Vestry accepted his generous offer. He and Rich Conn completed the repair last month. Thank you both very much!

What is Bible Study?

Why do we do it?

Our church’s catechism gives a good answer to these questions.

Q. Why do we call the Holy Scriptures the Word of God?

A. We call them the Word of God because God inspired their human authors and because God still speaks to us through the Bible.

Q. How do we understand the meaning of the Bible?

A. We understand the meaning of the Bible by the help of the Holy Spirit, who guides the Church in the true interpretation of the Scriptures.

We believe God still speaks to us today. A key part of Christian life is seeking out what God is saying to us. The main way we do that is through scripture, the Word of God. How do we understand what the scripture means? We understand it by the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit in the gathered church. That means if we want to know what God is saying to us, we need to read the Bible, and we need to explore it together with others, guided by the Holy Spirit. That’s what Bible Study is all about! Come and join us Wednesdays at 1 as we seek to do exactly that.
