Introducing the Crisis Stabilization Unit
Health Solutions is pleased to announce it has opened the doors of a four-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). The CSU, which is housed within Health Solutions’ Acute Treatment Unit (ATU), is the first unit of its kind in Pueblo and southern Colorado.
The CSU provides short-term care for those who need help managing psychiatric conditions but who do not require hospitalization or ATU care.
The ATU is an 11-bed inpatient facility for individuals 18 years of age or older who are in an emotional crisis or have a psychiatric need. Individuals are referred to the ATU from the Health Solutions Crisis Services Program.
The CSU is considered less restrictive in terms of who may be admitted. Additionally, once clients are admitted to the facility, they encounter less medical oversight than those who receive care in the ATU.
The CSU and ATU are staffed by bachelor-level healthcare specialists, culinary aides, master-level clinical staff, a psychologist, nurses, and a psychiatric prescriber who is licensed to provide psychiatric services.
“This four-bed unit allows us to provide timely, appropriate care for individuals who need support but don't require full hospitalization. By offering this intermediate level of care in a calming, low-pressure environment, we are better serving our community members,” said Teah Miller, Vice President of Specialty Services. “This represents a significant step forward in creating a complete continuum of mental health care for southern Colorado."
Health Solutions is actively establishing referral relationships with community partners. Healthcare providers interested in learning more about the referral process should contact Teah Miller at teahm@health.solutions or email atureferral@health.solutions.
