U.S. RevPAR -2.3% y/y last week; Halloween shift + to group. Possible govt shutdown headwind to limited-service

As Truist Securities wrote, "Overall, U.S. RevPAR was -2.3% y/y for the week ending 11/1/2025, per STR/CoStar, above the prior week's result of -5.3% y/y and slightly below the trailing 10-week average of -1.8% y/y. Last week's results were impacted by several factors including: 1) Holiday calendar shift of Halloween to a Friday in 2025 from a Thursday y/y – a Friday holiday makes for an easier week for groups to meet and therefore an easier comp for full-service. 2) Continued tough hurricane-related y/y comps – negative to limited-service hotels. 3) Continued bifurcation in a K-shaped economy. 4) Possible impact from the federal government shutdown on limited-service hotels. Upscale RevPAR: -2.4% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: -5.3% y/y."
