I AM Faithfully Fit Class Notes
Mastering Food Breakdown Times
| | |
Hi Friend
In this class, Travis dives deep into how food breaks down in the body, why certain combinations matter, and how our mindset and faith connect to long-term fat loss success. Using the Castaway movie as an example, he reminds us of the importance of preparation, survival kits, and building habits that last a lifetime.

Key Lessons from Class:
1) The Power of a Survival Kit
- Keep approved items with you (chips, tortillas, peanut butter cups, salad dressings).
- Having these on hand prevents giving in at restaurants or social events.
- “Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.”
- Carrying your own condiments or chips isn’t embarrassing—it’s an opportunity to share and witness.
2) The Four Pillars: Faith – Nutrition – Exercise – Supplementation
-
Faith: Lasting change is impossible without spiritual grounding. Eating unto the Lord shifts food from a habit to an act of worship.
-
Nutrition: Learn how foods digest and make choices that support fat-burning, not fat storage.
-
Exercise: Begin with walking and stretching. As you progress, add strength training, bands, or gym work. But beware: feeling better activates reward centers, which may cause cravings—stay mindful.
-
Supplementation: Our food supply lacks micronutrition. Daily use of Peak Performance, Berberine, and Collagen helps preserve muscle, protect metabolism, and fill gaps.
3) Behavior Modification & Value Systems
- Life is filled with changing experiences (daily stress, restaurant temptations) and unchanging truths (our identity in Christ).
- If food choices are tied only to changing circumstances, we’ll fail. Connect them to unchanging values—this is who I am, not just what I do.
-
Example: Saying “No, I haven’t earned a holiday” protects identity and builds confidence.

🍗 Understanding Macros & Breakdown Times
Protein
- Highest thermic effect (burns the most calories during digestion).
- Best sources: chicken breast, turkey breast, fish (highest fat-burning impact).
- Processed lean proteins (like ground beef, Greek yogurt) are still good but slightly lower thermic effect.
- Protein breaks down into amino acids, the building blocks of muscle and healing.
Carbs
- Break down into fiber (slows digestion, helps insulin) and glucose (energy).
- Slow carbs (sweet potato, beans, vegetables) support fat loss.
- Fast carbs (corn, white rice, white bread, candy) spike insulin and stop fat-burning.
- Best use for fast carbs: pre- or post-workout for muscle performance—not for weight loss.
Fats
-
LCTs (Long Chain Triglycerides): Found in steak and fatty meats. Slow to digest, easily stored as fat in the presence of insulin.
-
MCTs (Medium Chain Triglycerides): Found in coconut and palm oil, move quickly through cells, less likely to be stored as fat. Best cooking oil choice.
-
SCTs (Short Chain Triglycerides): Found in ghee butter, rare, break down differently.
🔥 Best & Worst Combinations
-
Best for Fat Loss: Lean protein + MCT oil (creates a metabolic “bonfire”).
-
Protein + Slow Carb: (Chicken + sweet potato, steak + beans). Works if portions are controlled. Small insulin response that quickly clears.
-
Avoid: Fast-digesting carbs + slow-digesting fats (Steak + corn, pizza, candy bars). This is the Romeo & Juliet of food combos—leads directly to fat storage.
🍽️ Portion Control Matters
-
Use a 6–8 inch plate.
- If you feel food pressing against your stomach lining, you’ve overeaten—even if it’s approved food.
- When portions are correct, your stomach shrinks within days and satiety increases.
-
Travis’ example: If you couldn’t run from a zombie after eating, you ate too much!
🧠 Mindset: Mice #1 vs. Mice #2
-
Mice #1 chose to run, stress levels dropped, and health improved.
-
Mice #2 were forced to run, stress skyrocketed.
-
Lesson: You must choose this lifestyle with excitement, not as punishment. Joy and willingness make the difference between long-term success and quitting.
-
Borrow strength from the community—“be equally yolked” with fellow members when you feel tired.
Stay faithful to the journey—one perfect day at a time—and watch your body, mind, and spirit transform in powerful ways.
Remember: caring for your health is more than a diet, it’s discipleship.
Every choice you make strengthens your witness, your mission, and your walk with Him.
Each plate 🍽️, each step, and each prayer is an offering of gratitude.
Fuel your body wisely, feed your soul daily, and walk this path with joy and consistency.
