County Officially Weighs In On FAA's Proposed New Rules

Hi everyone,

The county has officially weighed in on the FAA's Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM). At the direction of the Board of County Commissioners (BCC), the Department of Airports (DOA) prepared comments with help from outside counsel and the county attorney's office, and filed them on time with the FAA.

The Citizens Committee on Airport Noise (CCAN) had shared letters at its latest meeting with the DOA on the FAA proposal. Their input helped shape the county's final submission to the FAA. But the county attorney's office advised that CCAN could not submit comments as a group, because that is outside the scope of their duties as an advisory board to the DOA and BCC. But members are free to submit comments on their own, as public citizens.

Deadline to Submit Public Comments: October 2 at 11:59PM EST

As of this writing members of the public have submitted 1,147 comments to the FAA, with just over 1,000 of those comments approved and the remaining under review.

If you're reading this before 11:59pm Friday, October 2, you still have time to

file a Comment on FAA Proposal to Permanently Restrict the Airspace.

Upcoming CCAN Meeting

The next Citizens Committee on Airport Noise (CCAN) meeting is on Thursday, November 19, 2026 @10:00 AM. It's open to the public, so you can attend in-person although parking is limited. Attend in person: 846 Palm Beach International Airport/Bldg 846, West Palm Beach (off of 8th Street, just south of CareerSource). You can also watch this meeting live on Vimeo.
