Big Update for Fall 2026: Common Course Numbering (CCN)

Starting Fall 2026, you may notice some courses in the SBVC class schedule and catalog look a little different. That’s because SBVC is continuing the rollout of Common Course Numbering (CCN) with Phase II—a statewide system that gives the same course numbers to similar classes across all California community colleges. If you heard about CCN last year, that was Phase I. Now, even more courses are being updated as part of Phase II.

Example: COMM 111 – Interpersonal Communication → COMM C1004 – Interpersonal Communication

San Bernardino Valley College's Centennial Graduating Class Makes History

In its 100th year, San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) made history twice in a single night: graduating its largest class ever, then lighting up the sky with a centennial drone show.

More than 1,500 graduates earned degrees and certificates in SBVC’s centennial year, the most in the college’s century-long history, with hundreds of graduates celebrated at the centennial commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at SBVC Stadium.

“Class of 2026, you are the largest graduating class in the history of San Bernardino Valley College!” President Gilbert J. Contreras said before a blue and gold centennial backdrop. “Work still had to be done, bills still had to be paid, families still needed you, and responsibilities still waited at home. And somehow, in the middle of all of that, you kept showing up. That is the miracle of this day.”

Class speaker Brittany Wall captured the spirit of the graduating class’s journey with characteristic directness. “Here’s to 100 years of excellence at San Bernardino Valley College,” she said. “We are adding ourselves to that legacy.” More

SBVC Foundation Sets Record with $882,000 in Scholarships Awarded During College's Centennial Year

In a milestone that reflects a century of commitment to student success, the San Bernardino Valley College Foundation awarded more than $882,000 in scholarships — the most in its history — at its annual scholarship ceremony on May 7, 2026. The record-breaking award comes as SBVC celebrates its centennial year, marking 100 years of expanding access to higher education in the Inland Empire.

A total of 638 SBVC students received scholarships in the 2025-26 academic year, including funding from the two-year pilot ValleyUp2CSUSB program for students committed to enrolling at Cal State San Bernardino. The record scholarship total follows the Foundation’s most successful fundraising event in college history: the Centennial Gala on March 27, which raised more than $1 million. In addition to the scholarship awards, the Foundation distributed over $20,000 in other student support. More
