Hello Cheese Lovers,

Despite the lingering cool weather, spring has finally arrived—and with it, Easter and Passover.

Earlier this week, I spent three days up in Vermont at Jasper Hill Farm with a small group of independent cheese shop owners from across the Northeast. Every year, we come together to share ideas, talk honestly about the challenges of running small businesses, and celebrate the wins—big and small.

We visit the farms, taste an incredible range of cheeses, and even select special batches that you’ll only find in our shops. But more than that, it’s about connection. These conversations, the shared meals, the laughs, and yes—the wine and beer—fill my cup every single time. I always come home with fresh inspiration and a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into every wheel of cheese.

It also reinforces something we believe deeply:

What sets artisan cheese apart from its industrial counterparts is its connection to place. It has terroir. It tells the story of the land, the animals, and the people who make it.

If you’re a patron of our shop, you already value where your food comes from—and when you taste these cheeses, you can truly taste the difference. Choosing artisanal cheese means supporting small producers, promoting better animal welfare, and preserving traditional farming practices. It helps ensure rural America does not disappear. It’s a way of stepping outside the industrial food system and backing something more personal, more sustainable, and more meaningful.

I can tell you firsthand: these producers, just like us, truly value and need your support.

So let’s celebrate that—deliciously.

Easter is here, and we are fully stocked and ready. We’re now accepting orders for Saturday pickup, and if you need a platter, we just ask for 24 hours’ notice.

Whether you’re building a holiday board, bringing something to the table, or simply treating yourself, we’d love to help you find something perfect.

Come in, say hello, and let us put together something special for your Easter table 🧀

TRUFFLE BRIE IS BACK FOR EASTER

We received a couple of wheels of Truffle Brie from Maison de la Truffe in Paris just in time for Easter. Maison de la Truffe takes French Brie, slices it in half, and fills it with a marscapone-and-truffle filling to create a truly decadent cheese.

COMTÉ SPECIAL. ONE WEEK ONLY!

It's no secret that Comté is a favorite around here. Stop by this week and snag a hunk on sale! We are offering 20% off Comté when you purchase one pound or more. Comté is a great cheese to snack on, melt, serve to guests, and cook with, and can be used interchangeably with Gruyère.

Comté is made from raw cow's milk exclusively in the Jura Mountains of France. It has been produced for over 8 centuries and is France's most-consumed cheese. Comté has a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), which means its production rules are strict. Everything from milk treatment to breed to geographic region and more is defined. The texture of Comté is dense and smooth, and the flavors are complex. Our Comté is selected for us by the folks at Essex St. Cheese. They travel to the aging caves at Marcel Petite and taste every wheel to find the perfect Comté just for us. The flavor profile is herbaceous and fruity with hints of hay, fried onions, and hazelnuts. It is between 14 and 18 months old.
