2024 IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship

"An Experience of
a Lifetime!"
Coach Rex and his Czech family took in the 2024 IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship that took place in the beautiful city of Prague, & Ostrava, Czechia this spring. Rex put in many "hours of love" to secure tickets and work out logistics to attend this event!

Although Canada did not bring home any hardware, the host country did! For a Canadian / Czechia mixed family, the games were bittersweet, but an experience of a lifetime!

Critical Years of
Hockey Development -
Ages 7 to 12

For an aspiring hockey player, the timeframe between the early years of 7 to 12 are extremely important for hockey development, especially if a player dreams of someday playing city quadrant hockey, junior A, collegiate, semi - pro or ultimately in the NHL. Yes, the higher the level of play the greater are the incredible odds of reaching one’s lofty goals.
Coach Rex feels the following are the most significant for proper early hockey development:

  • Positive initiation
  • Proper equipment
  • A fun, positive learning environment
  • Friendship and social
  • Acquires a love for the game
  • Healthy family support
  • Good instruction / Coaching / Mentoring
  • Athleticism
  • Personality traits of the player
  • Lastly - Luck and fate!

There are so many variables which determine whether a player will be successful in the game of hockey. Many things the player can control while other things are completely out of his or her hands. The key is always enjoying and doing your very best if you wish to achieve success. When you do your best you should not have any
regrets but countless fond memories from participating in the wonderful sport of hock
The Tucker Hockey Mission Statement:

Through The Tucker Hockey Way:

  • Instilling the love and passion for hockey

  • Being inclusive to all ages, background & skill levels

Adult Award Recipient

Melissa Sawatzky
Melissa grew up playing sports, but never explored hockey. Once she became a parent and her kids got into skating / hockey she decided it was time for her to learn as well!

Although she enjoyed playing shinny, Melissa felt it wasn't improving her game. Melissa ended up participating in one of Tucker Hockey's "Ladies Only" programs and knew that she had found a place that was both encouraging and challenging and has been participating in Tucker Hockey programs ever since!

Thank you Melissa for trusting the "Tucker Hockey Way" for your hockey development for the past 2+ years and congratulations on being awarded the Bradley Mersereau Memorial Award!

Customer Testimonials
Adult Group
Program Testimonial

"I recently attended the Adult Fundamentals and Specialty Skills programs. I really enjoyed the sessions and the coaching; I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’m grateful that Tucker Hockey provides programs for Adults who want to better their hockey skills and have more fun playing the game.

Finding quality coaching programs for those who have aged out of minor hockey or who are finding hockey later in life can be challenging. Tucker Hockey does an incredible job of meeting players where they are. Having played house league for 10 years, and men’s league for another 20, I was going into the programs with an open mind ready to correct my built-up bad habits and take in new learnings. My last couple of seasons have felt a little blah, I felt slower, less effective, and less engaged in the play.

I found the program structure really valuable, and I loved the focus on repetition and progression, it was a perfect approach to break down any bad habits and reinforce the proper mechanics. Through the 16 sessions, I picked up new skills, polished a LOT of old ones, and have a renewed vigor for hockey.

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to Rex, Ron, Jimmy, Frank, Bobby, Mike, Korwin, Carter, Faith, and Alannah for all your guidance, professionalism, and passion for what you do. You helped reignite my passion for hockey and I’m feeling more confident than ever going into this upcoming season.

For any player of any skill level, I would highly recommend Tucker Hockey for your hockey development needs. Thanks so much!"

Minor Group
Program Testimonial

“Tucker Hockey truly has the best program and we’ll be back next year. All the Coaching staff are beyond remarkable to teach any age and combination of ages in groups like power skating.

I wanted to reach out today to say give a shout out to Korwin, what incredible mentor. All week he’s gone the extra mile with Gavin and today blew me away. He pushed Gavin remarkably well to the point Gavin called me over to say he couldn’t do dryland this evening in Strathmore. The technique Gavin left the ice with tonight was a huge thanks to your team and to Korwin who worked a lot with Gavin.

I could see many parents smiling while they all had fun. That’s what hockey is about, having fun and learning. Thank you.”
