November 1
“Finding a Way Out of Fundamental Christianity”
Stephen Michael
Stephen, a friend of UUCG, will be talking about his own journey through Catholicism and evangelical Christianity to where he is today. Layered in, will be his journey from being apolitical, through becoming a conservative, to breaking free from supporting Trump and conservatism, as an active democrat. Stephen was born in Hawaii in 1959 and lived in the Washington, DC area until age 17 when he joined the military. He met his wife, Kristi, in 1978 and got married in 1979. Sadly, Kristi passed away in 2024, and Stephen is now in a relationship with Melinda Tucker. He has three grown children, Chelsea, Connor, and Catherine, and three grandchildren, Jane, Lizzie, and Maggie.
November 8
“The Gospel According to Mary Jane”
Clint Tawes
This sermon is not about the “Mary Jane” you may be thinking of. Well, not entirely. It’s about a real woman named Mary Jane, better known as “Brownie Mary,” who turned homemade brownies—containing a special, not-so-legal ingredient—into acts of love and resistance. Her story challenges us to consider what happens when compassion conflicts with laws, social conventions, our own comfort, and even our values. If love is at the center of our UU faith, what are we willing to risk to put it into practice?
November 15
“Lascaux: Ancient Images, Timeless Connections”
John Stevenson
This past June, John had the extraordinarily good fortune to visit the Lascaux Caves in France, where people created paintings and engravings more than 17,000 years ago. Standing in the presence of these ancient images was both humbling and deeply moving. Join him as he shares images from Lascaux, what he learned from the experience, and some of the thoughts and feelings it stirred in him. What can these ancient traces of human creativity, curiosity, and imagination tell us about who we are—and about our own shared journey as a community seeking meaning, connection, and wonder.
November 22
“Exploring An Additional Value: Gratitude”
Beth Sutton
Gratitude is embraced in Generosity in our web of values - and in this month of Thanksgiving, we will explore how a practice of gratitude enhances our well-being.
November 29
“Exploring the Feminine Divine”
Melinda Tucker
As Unitarian Universalists, we honor the truth that there are many paths to the sacred (Pluralism). Melinda invites you to join her on her ongoing spiritual journey with Divine Feminine and how it has deeply transformed and enriched her life. We will gather to explore our shared 30,000+ year ""HerStory""—from ancient origins of God as Woman to Judeo-Christian heroines and the rediscovery of the Gospel of Mary Magdalene. We will see how these sacred perspectives beautifully support our Unitarian Universalist values and principles. All genders are welcome. Along with discussion, this service will offer opportunities to participate in (or simply observe) gentle, heart-centered rituals—balancing society's emphasis on left-brain logic with right-brain intuitive experience.

PLEDGE REMINDER
Please submit your pledges for 2027 as soon as possible. This is an important time for UUCG as we engage in our minister search. We need to be in a good financial position to support the compensation package required to attract strong candidates. And the percentage of members who have pledged is a direct measure of our commitment that will be considered by ministers looking at our congregation.
We would also welcome any year-end gifts. Your support in any form strengthens UUCG and is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
The pledge form links are provided below:

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - REV. DR. JANE PAGE SOCIAL JUSTICE FUND
As announced earlier this year, UUCG created the Rev. Dr. Jane Page Social Justice Fund with generous contributions from congregational members and friends to honor Rev. Jane's ministry and commitment to social justice. We need to form a team to establish the operating parameters for the fund - how it will be set up and managed, what types of grants the fund will be allowed to make, and who will be the allowable recipients.
Please let me know by Friday, November 6, if you are interested in serving on this team or if you have any questions, at rbmerck@gmail.com or by text at 912-399-0933.

Sunday, November 1, 2026; 9:00 – 10:15 AM - Bill Phillips Forum Room
Topic: All Join In
Discussion Leader: Ruth Trudeau
Topic: What’s on your Mind?
Join us curious and engaged UUs for a general discussion before the service. This is an opportunity to share what’s on your mind and in your heart. You’re invited to share an article, a poem, song lyrics, a book review, or talk about something interesting that you observed.
UUCG’s Adult Forum is designed to encourage discussion by sharing our stories and wisdom so we may “learn more about being human.” We meet on the first Sunday of the month to reinforce the “warmth of community” that calls us to attend church.
Think of us as an adult Sunday School class, and join in!

Our Caring Team does pastoral care for the congregation -- meaning we help be the "listening ears and the caring hearts" while we seek a minister. The name of the person on call is listed in the Thursday email each week and one of our members graciously gave their number to be posted at UUCG and in the newsletter, so there is always a number to call.
Do you or someone you know need to be mentioned in the Caring Circle or need a call from a trained Caring Team member?
No information is shared without permission.
Our on-call Caring Team Member for the week is Beth Stevenson: 404-824-5562

Come one, come all, anyone who is interested in being in the choir!
We have rehearsals every Thursday from 4:45 to 6:00 pm in the sanctuary. We’d love to have you join us if you like to sing. No previous experience is necessary. Our group has made a commitment of singing 2 anthems per month, that would mean a commitment of 2 Sundays. It is not necessary for you to attend the Thursday rehearsal to sing on Sunday if you already know the music. We practice where we will stand and using the sound system at 9:45 on the Sundays we are singing.
If you have any questions please call Linda Ashford 603 496-1594 or
just come to rehearsal on Thursdays starting Oct. 1.

Have you been thinking about joining UUCG? Many of our members are also members in another UU congregation. We would love to have you join us.

We need more Greeters!
This is the best start to volunteering -- you just need a smile and to extend a warm welcome on Sunday mornings. We are in need of volunteers to be greeters or to help with after service hospitality (coffee, tea and treats). These are both great ways to get to know UUCG and meet members and visitors.
Let Beth Stevenson know if you are interested in helping as a Greeter. Call or text Beth at 404-824-5562.

Want to volunteer to help with the kids on Sundays? We are required by UUA and our board to have two adults in the room with the class to meet insurance requirements. We have a list with a few names of people who have had security clearance. If you would like to be able to help out with our kids, you need to get this clearance (it's quick and painless). Please contact Lisa Kent for more information, at rlbkent@bellsouth.net, or 912-222-2889.
If you have general questions about our Children's Sunday School please contact me.

NAMI Glynn County is proud to be part of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, supporting individuals and families affected by mental health challenges. If you have a loved one living with mental illness, we invite you to join our Family Support Group—an encouraging space to share, learn, and connect.
The families and members of NAMI Glynn County are here to help! We offer understanding to anyone concerned about mental illnesses and the treatment of mental illness. Mental illnesses are brain disorders that are biologically based medical problems. Untreated, they can cause severe disturbances in thinking, feeling, and relating. This results in substantially diminished capacity for dealing with the ordinary demands of life. Mental illness can affect persons of any age and occur in any family. They are not caused by bad parenting and no evidence of weakness of character.
- NAMI Glynn Family Support Group meets every Thursday 7-8:30 pm at 1507 Reynolds Street, Brunswick (New Roots Glynn location)
- NAMI Connections Support Group meets on the second and fourth Monday at 6:15-7:30 pm at 1507 Reynolds Street, Brunswick (New Roots Glynn location)
