One of the great joys of ministry is seeing a sermon move beyond words and into action. This past Sunday, we reflected on Jesus' words, "I desire mercy, not sacrifice," and on the truth that mercy makes room. We talked about what it means to be a church that welcomes first, makes space at the table, and helps others know they belong.

Immediately following worship, we gathered for our church picnic, and I had the privilege of watching that message come to life. We were blessed to have several visitors with us, and I saw members of our congregation go out of their way to introduce themselves, invite others into conversations, share tables, and make sure no one felt alone. What could have been an intimidating experience for a newcomer became an experience of genuine hospitality.

I left the picnic incredibly proud of this congregation. You reminded me that welcome is not simply something we talk about; it is something we practice. Every conversation, every handshake, every invitation to join a table was a witness to Christ's love.

Thank you for being a church that reflects the mercy of Jesus. Thank you for making room. You showed our guests, and one another, that there is room here, room at God's table, and room in God's family.
