REGULAR WORSHIP SERVICE SCHEDULE

Traditional Service 8 AM SUNDAY. It's not worshiping without the organ, right? This service will have all the "bells" and stops pulled out for traditional hymns and organ offertories for early service.
Modern Service 9:30 AM SUNDAY. The blend of traditional hymns and contemporary choruses that developed over the COVID-19 season, with assistance from our Clavinova, will continue for this service.
Livestream Schedule Traditional Worship and Modern Worship services will be livestreamed.

One of the most meaningful and gracious acts of care we can perform is providing a meal for someone. IT is a way of meeting a tangible need while also offering personal connection. Food is a necessity, but preparing and serving it with kindness and intention can elevate food to be part of an act of love. To recognize another's hunger and seek to meet it is to demonstrate compassion and concern that attends to the heart and soul as well as the body and nourishes the whole person.
This is the situation in which we find the prophet Elisha, who has been busy in the work of tending to God's people. In 2 Kings 2, we find him succeeding his mentor, Elijah, whose own life and work nourished Elisha's prophetic growth. In their final moments together, when Elijah asks Elisha what he can do for him before he departs--Elisha asks for a double portion of Elijah's anointing--an inheritance that will feed his own spiritual life.
Our scripture passage this week highlights Elisha's movements through different towns and different people at various points of need: debt, health, and sustenance. Elisha does not have the material resources on hand for meeting the needs of these people. What he does have is a powerful faith and witness that compel people to seek his counsel in times of need. Elisha demonstrates a consistent and confident response to the situations of the people he encounters. God's provision is not merely material but relational; it is concerned about the whole person. The miracle unfolds at the extremity of human ability. There is not enough food. There is, however, faith that God can work with people willing to give what they can. And sure enough, everyone is fed, with food to spare.
Elisha is a model of God's provision and blessing in the form of faithful people who will lead the way with confidence and boldness. His relationship with God makes him a conduit for God's desire to bless and sustain people. To participate in God's abundant generosity is to become people who facilitate that giving through our very lives and being. Yes, we need the basics of life: food, shelter, health, freedom from debt. We also require the relationships that create community and ensure that we are nourished as whole people. Elisha offers a prophetic witness that models adapting to immediate human needs and caring for humanity through relationship.
