Decrypto is a game of trying to get just enough information to your teammates, but not so much information that the opposing team knows what's going on.
Each team has four words that they can see, and the opposing team cannot. Every round, one person on each team gives a clue for each of three words in a specific order (you draw a card saying which ones you need to give clues for)
Each team will then read their clues out loud. Both teams will guess which clue relates to which word. Your opponent will hear the clues, but since they can't see what the words are they will be trying to piece together the clues to figure out what they are, so you need to keep those clues just vague enough.
The game ends when one team correctly guesses the other teams word order twice, or when one team guesses their own incorrectly twice.
As an example my team might have the words Lightbulb, Oven, Carpet, Circle
I pull the clue card 3,4,1 so I need to give a clue for Carpet, Circle, and Lightbulb
I might give clues along the lines of:
Magic (Knowing my team would associate that with a magic carpet, but hopefully the opposing team won't think about that without seeing the word)
Wheel (Hopefully if we just keep listing circular objects, it will take a while until the other team sees how it's connected)
Screw (You screw in a lightbulb, but hopefully they won't think of that)
It's a great party game with vibes reminiscent of Codenames, and it is this week's GAME OF THE WEEK! From Friday, June 30th to Thursday, July 6th, our Decrypto 5th Anniversary Edition will be 20% off while stock lasts.
