New resources for 3D-INTERVIEWING
We have now developed a Core Process description for the 3D-INTERVIEW technique. The Core Process consists of these 4 steps: CONTEXT, CHANGE, BLOCK, GOALS.
Also ready are detailed instructions for each of the 4 steps with standard questions and guidance for the questioning process. All the materials are available on https://seriousplay.training/3d-interview/
Additional instructions for 3D-INTERVIEWING are under development. For more information there is a coffee chat about the topic on November 25.
A trap to avoid when designing workshop questions
LSP is designed to NOT have many of the challenges we have in a normal meeting such as lack of focus. In normal meetings we often try to get people to be more concrete by asking questions that include words such as BEST, MOST, WORST, LEAST, HIGHEST etc. Using such words in a LSP question is a REALLY bad idea. It makes it much harder to answer the question and prompts poorer answers. WHY? It forces the builder to first have a meeting with themself to decide what for example is their "WORST customer service experience." Once that is decided they have to build a model to illustrate this experience. All mental activity is happening in the 10% above the surface knowledge and about past experiences. There is little opportunity to unlock new knowledge. Answering the question is hard and the answer is somewhat random.

Instead we could ask "build a model to tell a story about what makes customer service experience bad and why that is the case?" Now the builder can relax and let the answer emerge through the building. Through sharing, questions and reflection it will become clear for the builder what constitutes the "worst experience".
